It should come as little surprise that Liverpool have waited until after their pre-season tour to step things up on the transfer front. The tour allowed Slot to assess his new squad and come to the conclusion that a new defensive midfielder is what he needs, according to David Ornstein. It was quite the mystery just who that midfielder would be, but an update has since revealed just who may be on their way.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are now "exploring" a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi this summer. The midfielder reportedly has a €60m (£52m) release clause in his Real Sociedad contract and talks will now take place between the clubs and regarding personal terms for the Spaniard.
They're not the only Premier League to have shown an interest, however. According to earlier reports, Manchester United tabled an offer worth £50.8m for Zubimendi and saw the 25-year-old as an ideal replacement for the ageing Casemiro. The Red Devils could now see their move hijacked by Liverpool, who have the chance to take revenge on those at Old Trafford after missing out on Leny Yoro courtesy of United earlier in the window.
What's more, Arsenal were also linked with a move for the Euro 2024 winner to create quite the race for his signature this summer – one that Liverpool could now impressively win.

New faces need to be added to Everton's squad this summer, both in terms of bringing a freshness to it and providing more quality, and Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been backed to complete a move to Goodison Park. The Englishman has been hailed by Tottenham midfielder James Maddison as "ridiculously good" when it comes to his one-on-one defensive ability.

Leeds United ace Wilfried Gnonto is also reportedly wanted by the Merseysiders, having been predicted to move there plenty of times in the recent past. The Italy international is seen as a strong addition on top of Iliman Ndiaye, who is close to completing a move from Marseille.
Further transfer funds could also be generated by the sale of certain players, and defender Ben Godfrey is on the verge sealing a switch to Serie A side Atalanta, having struggled to ever feel like a key starter under Dyche. "Yankuba Minteh, one to watch in the next 24/48h as Newcastle are still trying to sell him due to Financial Fair Play restrictions. Olympique Lyon made the best proposal, Minteh’s still keen on Everton move as priority. NUFC and Minteh in contact to make decision soon."

Minteh has the potential to be an exciting long-term signing for Everton, and the urgent nature of the situation means that he could even join the club before the start of next week.
The 19-year-old enjoyed an impressive stint on loan at Eredivisie side Feyenoord in 2023/24, not only winning the Dutch Cup but also contributing 10 goals and five assists in the league. His former manager, Arne Slot, who has since replaced Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, heaped praise on the £4,200-a-week attacker during their time together.

The report claims that the Scotland international is not in Mikel Arteta's plans for the 2024/25 campaign, having just spent the season on loan with Real Sociedad in Spain.
A summer transfer away from The Emirates is now on the cards for the full-back and the Gunners would be willing to sell him for a small profit on the £25m they paid Celtic to sign him back in 2019.

Firstly, the 26-year-old ace is experienced in Europe and could be a key player for the Hoops on the continent, whether they end up in the Champions League or the Europa League.
In his career to date, Tierney has racked up 62 appearances in Europe for Celtic, Arsenal, and Real Sociedad combined, all of which have been in the two aforementioned competitions – including qualifiers.

In his last Champions League campaign for Celtic, Tierney made 4.5 tackles and interceptions combined per game and won 64% of his ground duels across six appearances, which shows that he can win possession back on a regular basis whilst dominating players on the deck.
Alongside his excellent defensive work in Europe, the Scotland international was also a consistent creative threat in the Premiership during his time at Parkhead.

Tierney coming through the door would provide his compatriot with competition for his place in the side, which could help him to improve his own game instead of being complacent, as he knows that there are no natural alternatives to him at this moment in time.

This suggests that the £110k-per-week ace, who was once hailed as "unique" by Rodgers, could provide goals and assists far more frequently than Taylor.

"In terms of player recruitment, we are active in the market right now. Key areas of focus for the Football Board are succession planning, player contracts and player recruitment. There are conversations on recruitment every day. When Nils came in, he reviewed the department and changed the structure and process, so we are in a strong place as we build towards the summer.
"A number of good conversations with active targets are underway. I cannot give any more detail right now. Ideally we would like to bring in players early, for the start of pre-season, although the Euros might slow the market slightly. Our intention is to be on the front foot and bring players in as early as we can, but we will need to remain agile to the market dynamics."
This update will warm the hearts of Rangers supporters, who will no doubt be desperate to ensure that this season doesn't end up being a one-off, allowing Celtic to suddenly pull away again in the coming years.
Regardless of what happens in the coming weeks, it does feel as though a positive period is brewing with Clement in charge, with the Belgian already making such a positive impression, winning the Scottish League Cup and having a great chance of two more pieces of silverware before the end of the season.
