Jadon Sancho is surely a Manchester United signing in waiting

Manchester United look like they’ve found a manager in Ole Gunnar Solskjær who understands the club’s core principals and values, and they should be throwing a contract and transfer money at him as soon as possible.

Former coach Jose Mourinho managed a couple of decent signings during his time at the club, including the likes of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Diogo Dalot, but saw his finances famously limited towards the end when he was in pursuit of a much-needed defender.

The less we say about the likes of Fred and Alexis Sanchez the better, we’re sure.

Now with Ole Gunnar Solskjær in charge the board must back him in the market if they want their club to have a successful campaign next time around.

That means calculated marquee signings to match those of close rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

So, who could be that man?

According to the Mirror, Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Jadon Sancho is top of the priority list for a small sum of £100m+.

The former Manchester City player, who was signed by current Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for a relatively small fee of £8m (espn.co.uk), has developed into one of the finest young talents in world football under his new club’s guidance and has quite rightfully earned the attention of one the famous institutions in the world.

Sancho has contributed a very admirable 8 goals and 13 assists in 30 games so far this season and made his breakthrough into the England setup securing three caps for the senior side.

It’s hard to ignore the fact that Sancho would be a very suitable replacement for some of the slower and less technically gifted players in the United side. His attributes would be ideal for the direction Manchester United are currently heading in under Solskjær, and, having never been given a chance to express himself in the English top-flight, would certainly have a point to prove against his former employers.

Surely the man to win United’s first title since Sir Alex Ferguson departed.

Injury News: Jack Clarke to return to outdoor training next week

[ad_pod ]Leeds could be handed a big fitness boost in the next couple of weeks, as Phil Hay has delivered an update on the condition of Jack Clarke.Leeds have had horrific luck with injuries this season, made even worse by the fact that Marcelo Bielsa’s squad was relatively thin to begin with.Clarke became the latest man on the injury list at Middlesbrough, as the youngster was stretchered from the Leeds sideline during the 1-1 draw at the Riverside.Clarke was taken to hospital for tests, and it is now understood that he was suffering from a virus.According to The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay, the teenager will do indoor gym work this week and return to outdoor training next week, though not yet with the first team.

A boost before the Baggies

While Clarke still has plenty of recovery time in front of him, the fact that he is looking to shake it off and return as quickly as possible is fantastic news for Bielsa.

Kemar Roofe is out with a knee injury and Pablo Hernandez will turn 34 in April and has played a lot of games this season, so depth is absolutely crucial as the Whites look to keep pace with the teams around them.

Clarke’s ability to beat a defender and whip in a dangerous cross is matched by very few wingers in the Championship, and while next Tuesday’s clash against QPR may come too soon, he is surely eyeing the hugely important fixtue at the start of next month.

Leeds welcome West Brom to Elland Road on March 1 in a match that could ultimately decide who goes up automatically and who endures the play-off gauntlet, and Clarke’s potential return will be giving the Baggies’ full-backs nightmares.

West Brom starlet Rayhaan Tulloch receives glowing praise

West Brom youngster Rayhaan Tulloch made his third senior appearance of the season in midweek but question marks over his long-term future at the Hawthorns still remain.

The Athletic have hinted the Baggies may let the 19-year-old leave at the end of his contract this summer while Football Insider claim SPFL side Rangers have interest in clinching him.

After his four-minute cameo against Newcastle United in the FA Cup in midweek, Tulloch took to Instagram to post a photo of him in action and some of his teammates, both past and present, have replied.

Jonathan Leko, who recently returned from a loan spell at Charlton, described the youngster as a “star boy” while ex-youth product Morgan Rogers, who is now at Manchester City, replied with “what a man”.

The 17-year-old joined the Premier League giants this summer and Tulloch’s dubious future could see a damning trend continue in the west Midlands as the club often lose their brightest and best youngsters.

Who the heck is that?! Can you name all of these obscure West Brom players…

See Louie Barry, Izzy Brown and Chris Wood as examples.

And in other news, West Brom saved themselves millions in January by not signing former FAVE…

Leicester fans slam Ricardo Pereira after another mistake costs them points

[ad_pod ]Leicester fans have taken to Twitter to react after full-back Ricardo Pereira made a huge error against Tottenham on Sunday, which handed the initiative to the north Londoners almost immediately after Jamie Vardy missed a penalty to equalise. The Portuguese international attempted to play the ball out from the back under little pressure, before it was intercepted in a dangerous area for the Foxes right on the edge of their own box.Fernando Llorente then teed up Christian Eriksen for the Dane to smash the ball beyond his international teammate Kasper Schmeichel and double Spurs’ lead, and pretty much end the game as a contest.Be sure to check out the incredible story of the man who rose from a Tanzanian refugee camp to become one of Australia’s biggest football stars in the video below…The King Power Stadium faithful have now witnessed their summer signing make two huge errors in back-to-back games, after the full-back conceded possession to Paul Pogba last week for the midfielder to set up Marcus Rashford to score.Understandably, the Leicester fans on Twitter are annoyed at the 25-year-old, as they felt they could’ve got something against Mauricio Pochettino’s men…

Revealed: 86% of Liverpool fans want to sign Luka Jovic

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool fans want Jurgen Klopp to sign a striker who can provide genuine competition for Roberto Firmino, and a whopping 86 per cent of fans think that striker should be Luka Jovic.

Klopp and sporting director Michael Edwards have done some excellent transfer business for Liverpool in the last couple of years, adding quality not only to the first eleven but to the squad as a whole.

The signing of Xherdan Shaqiri exemplified this strategy perfectly, and fans want another move of that ilk for Serbian wonderkid Jovic.

The Eintracht Frankfurt striker has been in unstoppable form this season, racking up 12 goals and two assists already this season.

At just 20 years old he still has plenty of room to improve, and his unique blend of power, technique and vision would provide Klopp with a different option to both Firmino and the resurgent Daniel Sturridge.

Fans weren’t happy when reports this week claimed Klopp may not pursue any new signings in January, and a huge majority of want a move for Jovic.

Sheffield United must hijack QPR’s bid to sign Nahki Wells on loan from Burnley

According to reports in the printed version of The Daily Star on Tuesday, Championship strugglers Queens Park Rangers want to sign out-of-favour Burnley striker Nahki Wells on loan, and their league rivals Sheffield United must hijack any deal.

What’s the word, then?

Well, The Daily Star report that QPR boss Steve McClaren wants to bring the 28-year-old to Loftus Road to boost his lowly side, whose 3-0 home defeat by Bristol City on Tuesday night consigned them to their third successive defeat at the beginning of the 2018/19 campaign.

Meanwhile, the Blades have had a pretty successful summer in the transfer market with things certainly improving in recent weeks in terms of incomings, but they still look to need an extra option up top to compete with new boy David McGoldrick, as well as Billy Sharp and Leon Clarke.

The latter duo got the nod ahead of McGoldrick for the 2-1 win against Norwich City at Bramall Lane on Saturday, with Sharp scoring the winner in injury time.

However, they are getting no younger and Chris Wilder will want to bring in a player that is potentially different to what they have already.

Why should Sheffield United hijack QPR’s move?

While Wells has struggled to make an impact for Burnley and currently find himself behind the likes of Chris Wood, Sam Vokes and Ashley Barnes in the pecking order, he also hasn’t really been given an opportunity to impress seeing as he only made nine Premier League appearances last term.

However, he proved that he could get goals at Championship level with Huddersfield Town previously – he netted 45 goals in 144 games in England’s second tier for the Terriers – and he would arrive at Bramall Lane with a point to prove if Wilder, who must also make a cheeky loan bid for a Stoke City attacker, pushed through a deal.

There is no doubt that his speed and 5ft 7in frame mean that he could form a successful little-and-large strike partnership with Clarke.

Thompson makes bold claim for Liverpool, United clash

Former Liverpool centre-back Phil Thompson has backed the Reds to overcome bitter rivals Manchester United in Saturday’s Premier League clash at Anfield.

Second-placed United will visit seventh-placed Liverpool having won six of their seven league games at the start of the 2017-18 campaign.

The Red Devils have also scored 21 times in their seven fixtures this term, conceding just twice in the process.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have already shipped 12 goals in the Premier League, which is the third-worst defensive record at this stage.

Despite United entering the key match in the better form, Thompson is extremely confident that his former club will overcome Jose Mourinho’s side on Saturday afternoon.

Thompson told Sky Sports:

“I’m very confident – it’s what we [Liverpool] do. Liverpool turn up in the big games. It’s going to be an absolute battle but if you look at a lot of our players, they raise their game.

“Dare I say it, but I think there’s a good chance of a Liverpool clean sheet. I fancy us as it’s here at Anfield and I think it’ll be a Liverpool victory.”

Liverpool have not kept a clean sheet since a 4-0 win over Arsenal at the end of August, and could be without centre-back Dejan Lovren this weekend.

That said, Jurgen Klopp has lost just two of his 20 Premier League matches against the top six – Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, United, Manchester City and Arsenal – since arriving at Anfield.

Ex-Everton player backs club to move for in-demand Michael Keane

Former Everton player Kevin Ratcliffe believes that signing Burnley defender Michael Keane would be a good move for the Toffees.

According to the Daily Mail, the Merseyside outfit are favourites to land the England international’s signature.

Keane’s former club Manchester United have been named in the rumour mill as possible suitors for the defender, as have Liverpool.

However, the Mail claims that positive talks have already been held between Burnley and Everton over a £20m deal.

It is no surprise that Keane is being targeted as he has put in consistently solid displays at the back for the Clarets this season.

The defender has played in all 33 of Burnley’s Premier League games and has even contributed with two goals and an assist.

The 24-year-old ended his four-year spell at United to move to Turf Moor in 2015, but it was not until this season that other clubs began to take notice.

Ratcliffe has suggested that the price of Keane is not entirely justified, but due to the rate of British talent, needs must.

He wrote in the Liverpool Echo:

“I rate him and think that, while there’s room for improvement, he shows plenty of promise at the age of only 24. With no disrespect intended to the Clarets you like to think he will improve at a bigger club.

“I would certainly not be disappointed if Everton signed Keane in the summer. How much they should pay for him is another matter, but if the going rate is £20 -25m then so be it.

“You have to spend big on young English talent, and he certainly ticks a lot of boxes in what you look for from a central defender.”

Is this Everton star approaching a make or break season?

Everton and England star Ross Barkley is approaching a crossroads in his fledgling career.

A player of undoubted ability can no longer be considered a player of potential, it’s time the boy became a man and started to produce top class performances on a regular basis.

If you were to watch a compilation video of Barkley’s greatest moments, there would be no disputing his special talents.

However, the alarming dip in form he suffered in the second half of last season must be a small bump in the road and not an indication of a more permanent downturn in career trajectory.

The arrival of new manager Ronald Koeman and his highly rated backroom staff will surely aid Barkley in his quest for more consistent showings.

And the more demanding nature of the Dutchman, as opposed to the often perceived over-indulgence shown by former manager Roberto Martinez towards his young charge, could be just what is required to push Barkley onto the next level.

An injection of cash within the corridors of power at Everton means a higher level of player can now be attracted to Goodison Park.

Therefore, Barkley may no longer take his place in the starting eleven for granted. Yet, on the flip side he could be the talisman and superstar Everton have been craving for an age, who they could build a new team around.

But one thing which cannot be argued, is that the upcoming season is one of huge importance for the young blue.

Step up to the plate and the sky can be the limit, but if he fails to grasp this opportunity, we may never see the best of this mercurial talent.
