LFC fans hugely excited after Daka update

A number of Liverpool supporters are hugely excited after a report claimed the Reds are on the verge of signing striker Patson Daka this summer.

The summer transfer window promises to be a busy one at Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp working hard on perfecting his squad ahead of next season.

The 53-year-old will no doubt be keen to bringing in top-quality additions, but he will also be wanting to offload fringe players who are deemed surplus to requirements.

One player who Liverpool have been linked with before is Daka, who has been a sensation for RB Salzburg, scoring 68 goals in just 125 appearances for the Austrian side.

According to Fichajes, the Reds are set to make the 22-year-old their second addition of the summer, having already signed Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.

Jack Hendry set to leave Celtic

Celtic defender Jack Hendry is close to completing a move to Belgian outfit K.V. Oostende ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

What’s the story?

According to 90min, Oostende have triggered their option to sign the 26-year-old following his successful season-long loan from the Hoops throughout 2020/21.

The report claims a £2 million fee was agreed between the two clubs for Hendry last summer, with Alexander Blessin’s side desperate to secure their man for such a small fee.

Fans will be buzzing

Hendry arrived at Celtic Park back in January 2018 after impressing with fellow Scottish Premiership side Dundee, but the 6 ft 3 centre-back has been unable to replicate his best form with the Glasgow giants.

In two-and-a-half years with the Hoops, the Scotland international made just 27 appearances, failing to establish himself as a first-team regular at any stage.

His underwhelming displays led to a loan move halfway through the 2019/20 campaign that saw Hendry briefly turnout for Melbourne City in Australia.

However, it’s a subsequent spell away from Celtic that appears to have propelled the towering defender back into the limelight.

Hendry made 30 appearances for Oostende as they finished fifth in the Belgian First Division, earning a place in Steve Clarke’s squad for Euro 2020 this summer.

While he’s clearly made progress and improvements during his time away from Scottish football, Hendry often came in for criticism throughout his time at Celtic, and it’s unlikely that the club’s supporters will be sad to see him go.

He routinely made fans feel nervous with the ball at his feet and looked overwhelmed by the pressure of playing for such a big club, often proving to be a liability when in the starting XI, so perhaps this proposed move will be best for all parties.

Hendry’s departure is the start of a summer rebuild for Celtic as they look to overhaul fierce rivals Rangers next season, and bringing in a replacement in the heart of defence is set to be a priority for whoever eventually succeeds Neil Lennon.

And, in other news…Huge claim emerges over Celtic’s managerial pursuit, fans will surely be delighted

Pundit laughs off Sterling/Kane swap deal transfer report

Dean Windass has laughed off suggestions that Raheem Sterling could be involved a swap deal that would see Harry Kane end up at Manchester City this summer.

The Sun reported earlier this week that the Premier League champions were willing to offer both £81m-rated Sterling and Gabriel Jesus in a sensational deal to bring the Tottenham striker move to the Etihad Stadium.

Despite scoring 14 times and chipping in with 12 assists, it’s been a mixed campaign for Sterling, who’s been in and out of Pep Guardiola’s team in recent months, although he was given the nod to start the Champions League final.

He’d previously played just 10 minutes across City’s quarter-final and semi-final ties, with Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden often preferred out wide.

But Sterling was recalled in Lisbon, playing 77 minutes, although he couldn’t help City claim their first ever European Cup.

Another recent story said that City were going to listen to offers for the England international, but Windass would be shocked to see Sterling playing his football elsewhere.

He exclusively told The Transfer Tavern:

“Why would Raheem Sterling want to leave? Would Pep want to lose Raheem Sterling? No.

“And I wouldn’t want to go. If Kane is coming the other way, why would you want to jump in a taxi and go the other way? “

Spurs now want Ramsdale

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur have now become one of the teams interested in signing Sheffield United keeper Aaron Ramsdale this summer.

The Lowdown: Lloris replacement?

As long-time number one Hugo Lloris’ future hangs in the balance at Tottenham, and with no new deal agreed yet, links will keep emerging to his possible heir.

The Frenchman has been a mainstay for Tottenham since he signed from Lyon in the summer of 2012, making 373 appearances for the Lilywhites in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

His current contract expires at the end of next season, though, with Spurs seemingly contemplating his replacement between the sticks.

The Latest: Spurs now want Ramsdale…

As per the Daily Mail, Spurs are now looking at Blades keeper Ramsdale and could offer him a route back into the Premier League after he was relegated last season.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/west-ham-latest-news-2/” title=”West Ham latest news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Named on England’s standby list for Euro 2020, the 23-year-old finished 2020/2021 as, arguably, one of the Yorkshire side’s bright sparks in what was a disappointing campaign.

Wolves are also said to be eyeing a move for the 6 foot 2 Ramsdale but Spurs are now ‘planning’ for life without Lloris as he continues to be linked with a move away.

The Verdict: Good shout?

He has no shortage of praise from both coaching staff at Bramall Lane and big name pundits.

Alan Shearer, for example, told the Premier League’s YouTube channel recently that Ramsdale is ‘strong’ and ‘fearless’ whilst carrying ‘lots of potential’.

Meanwhile, former Blades interim manager Paul Heckingbottom also lauded him as ‘excellent’ for his end of season form (Yorkshire Post).

As a result, we believe he should definitely be considered at the very least – especially given his potentially cheap price tag after Sheffield United’s relegation.

SWFC look set to miss out on Aneke

A major update has emerged on a Sheffield Wednesday transfer target, with Nigel Adkins speaking about Chuks Aneke’s future.

What’s the talk?

Charlton manager Nigel Adkins has dealt Sheffield Wednesday a transfer blow by dropping a major revelation over Chuks Aneke’s current situation. Adkins has revealed that Aneke wants to stay at Charlton heading into next season despite his contract expiring at the end of the month.

According to The Yorkshire Live, Aneke is a player Sheffield Wednesday have been looking at as a potential target for the summer window.

Adkins has now stated that Aneke is one of the players who want to stay at Charlton and sign an extension in the next few weeks. He told London News Online:

“We released three [players] and the others I wanted to stay at the football club.

“They have all said to me they want to stay, which is a big thing.”

“They and their agents are in negotiation with Steve Gallen, who is representing our football club in those negotiations and our budget.”

Earlier this year, former Charlton boss Lee Bowyer claimed that the attacker is “unplayable” on his day. He told London News Online:

“He was immense up there again today. He’s unplayable, on his day he’s unplayable. The only disappointing thing, if I’m him, is that he didn’t score more.

“To have that hunger and that aggression in the box, that hunger to score every time you get a chance. He could have had four today if he really wanted it but he got one and it’s won us the game. I’m really pleased for him, I thought he’s done really well.”

Moore will be gutted

Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore will be gutted by this update from Adkins as it could lead to the club missing out on a deal to sign Aneke on a free transfer.

He is out of contract at the end of this month and will be a free agent if he opts against extending his contract at The Valley. This could make him an ideal target for Wednesday given their financial problems behind the scenes as they wouldn’t need to shell out a transfer fee for his services, bypassing negotiations with another club.

However, Adkins’ comments seem to suggest that Aneke will not be running down his deal and will instead put pen to paper on a contract extension with Charlton.

Not only would that be a blow to Wednesday’s transfer plans but it would also be a major boost for Charlton. Wednesday could be competing with Adkins’ side to get out of League One next season and Aneke still playing for Charlton could aid their hopes of promotion, due to his impressive performances last term.

The £5.4k-per-week beast scored 15 League One goals for Charlton in the 2020/21 campaign. He was their top scorer in the division and scored six more goals than any Wednesday player managed in the Championship.

This suggests that Aneke would be an excellent addition to Wednesday’s squad next season, which is why him signing a new deal will leave Moore gutted.

Agent of Gers’ Morelos talks to Porto

According to Maisfutebol (via Glasgow Live), the agent of Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has travelled to Portugal to enter negotiations with Porto in regards to a transfer.

The Lowdown: Morelos could leave

Morelos has now spent four years with the Gers, scoring 94 goals in 182 games for the club (Transfermarkt).

His performances have led him to be linked with a number of clubs, such as Marseille (Le10 Sport) and AC Milan (Football Insider via Glasgow Live).

In the past, he has said it is his dream to play in the Premier League (Radio Caracol), while he has also suggested he wants to play in a more prestigious division (Goal.com).

The Latest: Morelos’ agent talks to Porto

Now, it is being reported that Morelos’ agent, Michael Gorman, has travelled to Porto to speak to the two-time European champions in regards to a transfer for his client.

No deal has yet been agreed between the clubs, and Porto say they will only discuss personal terms when a deal has been agreed.

The Verdict: Sooner rather than later

Steven Gerrard and co would be disappointed to see the 24-year-old depart. Sure, he has had his discipline issues – he has received seven red cards during his time at Ibrox – but his goalscoring record speaks for itself. He has contributed massively to the Gers’ return to the top of Scottish football.

It has always felt as though he would eventually leave Rangers, and this summer offers another opportunity for that to happen.

Currently valued at £10.8m (Transfermarkt), the 55-time Scottish champions will be looking for a considerable fee for his services. If one comes in, though, they may well accept the Colombia international moving on with a chance to reinvest any profit into several positions ahead of a daunting Champions League campaign.

In other news, Rangers fans were livid at this Euro 2020 news.

Rangers fans rage over 21/22 training gear

Some Glasgow Rangers fans are not happy after the club’s training gear for the 2021/22 was revealed.

The Gers enjoyed a magnificent 2020/21 season as they won the Premiership for the first time in 10 years, and they went unbeaten throughout the entire league campaign as well. They have earned themselves a place in the Champions League third qualifying round as a result, meaning they have another big season ahead of them.

Last year, they entered into a new manufacturing agreement with Castore worth £25m over five years (The Scotsman) – this will be the Liverpool-based company’s second year working with the 55-time Scottish champions. While the new matchday kits for the 2021/22 season have not yet been released, the training kits are now available – and it is fair to say they have not gone down too well with many supporters.

The kits were revealed on Rangers’ official Twitter account, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s fans. These Bears took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.

Let’s see what these Rangers fans had to say about the new training gear

Barry Fry claims Tottenham have everything needed to succeed

It hasn’t been a great 12 months for Tottenham Hotspur as they failed to qualify for the Europa League, have no manager and could be set to lose Harry Kane, but despite this Peterborough’s Director of Football Barry Fry has claimed that Spurs have everything in place to succeed.

There is no secret in the fact that Spurs have been turned down or failed to offer anyone the manager’s position with the likes of Antonio Conte and Paulo Fonseca all failing to agree on terms and a plan to be at the club.

Their squad is a mixture of top-class players and ones that have failed to live up to expectations over the last 12-18 months, but with arguably the best stadium and training facilities in Europe it is quite bizarre that they have failed to fill the void left by Jose Mourinho earlier this year.

From the outside looking in, it appears that Spurs could be in a bit of trouble this summer if they can’t get a manager in place soon to bring in new players and convince Kane to stay, however Fry believes that they have everything in place and necessary to succeed, as he told Football FanCast exclusively:

“They’ve got the best stadium in the world and one of the best training grounds in the world so they’ve got everything in place but they’re not getting it right on the pitch.”

Spurs appeared to be set for a prolonged period of time challenging at the top of the Premier League after they came close to winning the league in 2016, and then made the Champions League final in 2019, but since Mauricio Pochettino’s departure the club has been spiralling down the league.

Despite having a top stadium and training facilities, they may struggle to attract the best players with the only European football they have to offer is the newly-formed Europa Conference League which does not seem appealing to many clubs or players.

Windass: Dele Alli should make Aston Villa move

Dean Windass has urged Dele Alli to prove his doubters wrong by linking up with Aston Villa.

Alli made just 29 appearances last season, with his minutes limited after failing to impress then-Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho.

Having played an integral part as England reached the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Alli has been forced to watch the Three Lions’ Euro 2020 campaign unfold on television as his lack of Premier League action resulted in him no longer being considered by national team manager Gareth Southgate.

Alli has been overtaken by the likes of Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Champions League-winning Chelsea attacking midfielder Mason Mount and Arsenal playmaker Bukayo Saka in the race for a regular starting spot for England.

Jack Grealish has also made a telling contribution at Euro 2020 following an impressive campaign at Aston Villa.

Former Hull City striker Windass feels £100,ooo-a-week man Alli would benefit from walking away from Spurs, despite the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo as head coach, and joining forces with Grealish at Villa Park ahead of the new Premier League season.

Windass, speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, said: “The new manager might want to keep Dele Alli, but I don’t think Harry Kane will be staying so their main focus will be trying to get another centre forward quickly.

“I think Dele would fit in well at Aston Villa and he needs to start playing again. He needs to start being a bit more confident as well because it does demoralise you when you don’t play and the manager doesn’t rate you.

“If a manager doesn’t like you, they don’t like you. There’s nothing you can do about it. You just have to move on and prove to the manager that they shouldn’t have let you go. That’s what Dele Alli has got to do, I think.”

Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs hold talks with Jannik Vestergaard

Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with Southampton central defender Jannik Vestergaard as they eye defensive reinforcements [Daily Mail].

The Lowdown: Spurs prepare for 2021/22

Moving into 2021/22, newly appointed manager Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping to re-scale what is a fragmented Spurs side, in order to challenge for continental qualification once again.

Making inroads in the transfer market, the Londoners have reportedly agreed terms with Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, which will come as a relief to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful.

Now, it looks as if Nuno may be chasing another deal in the coming days following recent developments.

The Latest: Spurs hold talks with Vestergaard; potential Alderweireld replacement

Tottenham have entered into discussions with Denmark international Vestergaard [Daily Mail].

Advantageously, the 6 foot 6 colossus’ contract is set to expire in twelve months which has made him an appealing pursuit for the Lilywhites [Daily Mail].

Recruiting in the centre-back area will be of particular importance to the UEFA Conference League qualifiers, owing to reports suggesting that current stopper Toby Alderweireld could depart this summer [CaughtOffside].

The Verdict: Vestergaard would be an astute signing for Spurs

Vestergaard would be an astute piece of business by the Spurs hierarchy.

Strong in aerial duels and disposing of dangerous situations, the 28-year-old would provide some much-needed leadership qualities within the Tottenham backline.

In 2020/21, the Dane made 33 appearances for the Saints in all competitions notching three goals [Transfermarkt]. Furthermore, he made an astounding average of four clearances every 90 minutes across the previous year which was the most in the entire Southampton squad [WhoScored].

Once labelled as ‘outstanding’ by popular Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer, his immense qualities would shine within the Tottenham Hotspur defence [The Boot Room].

Currently excelling in the EURO 2020 Championships with his native Denmark, it may be worth snapping him up now before other clubs take notice.
