He’s also made 92 against England XI, and three more centuries in the Safi Darashah tournament in Karnataka for MCA XI. Abhishek Nayar made an unbeaten half-century as Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma declared on 294 for 5 in search of an outright win. Rohit had lasted 20 deliveries with the bat, going bowled to Laxmi Shukla for 14. Set a target of 391, Bengal motored to 47 for 0 in 16 overs by stumps.
ScorecardSaurashtra batted for about an hour into the third day, with Ravindra Jadeja finally going for 331 and offspinner Kamlesh Makvana reaching his century. Former Saurashtra medium-pacer Hardik Rathod picked up five wickets but Saurashtra posted 576 before declaring. Railways were steady in their reply, reaching 157 for 1 by stumps. Shivakant Shukla was unbeaten on 74 and V Cheluvaraj was giving him company on 49. Jaydev Unadkat took the only wicket to fall. Railways need an improbable 420 to take the first-innings lead on the final day, but if they can avoid getting bowled out, both teams will get just a point each.
ScorecardHyderabad were fighting for the first-innings lead in Valsad, reaching 291 for 4 in reply to Gujarat’s mammoth 566. Akshath Reddy made another half-century, and again failed to convert it into a big hundred. Hanuma Vihari contributed 79 before falling, but Bavanaka Sandeep remained unbeaten on 61 and along with Syed Quadri (33*) kept Hyderabad hopes alive with the visitors still 275 behind. Four Gujarat bowlers picked up a wicket each.

O zagueiro Leandro Castan falou nesta sexta-feira pela primeira vez sobre a possibilidade de deixar o Vasco. A pedido do técnico Fábio Carille, anunciado como novo técnico do Corinthians, ele pode retornar ao clube pelo qual conquistou a Libertadores de 2012. É difícil falar porque eu tenho contrato com o Vasco, mas todo mundo sabe o carinho que tenho por esse time e sua torcida.

Leandro Castan, de 32 anos, retornou ao Brasil nesta temporada após quase sete anos no futebol da Itália. No Vasco, confirmou rapidamente o status de titular, sendo fundamental na permanência da equipe na elite nacional. Apesar de o zagueiro ter contrato com o Cruz-Maltino por mais um ano, o Corinthians ainda não entrou em contato com os dirigentes de São Januário, monitorando a situação do atleta em conversas com pessoas próximas a ele.

Um trunfo do Corinthians para uma negociação com Leandro Castan é o fato de Fábio Carille ter indicado o zagueiro para o clube em 2010, após destaque do atleta no Grêmio Barueri no ano anterior. Atualmente, o elenco do Timão conta com quatro zagueiros: Henrique e Léo Santos, que vinham sendo titulares, além de Pedro Henrique e Marllon. Andrés Sanchez, atual presidente do Corinthians, também é próximo ao jogador, o que pode ajudar em uma evolução das conversas.

Ciente desta situação de mercado envolvendo Leandro Castan, o Vasco se movimentou para segurá-lo. A diretoria presidida por Alexandre Campello prepara uma proposta de ampliação do período do vínculo do zagueiro – de fim de 2019 para término de 2020 -, aumentando a multa rescisória e colocando bônus por metas alcançadas dentro de campo. Assim, acredita que criaria uma maior segurança para todas as partes. Em São Januário, o defensor entrou em campo 15 vezes, com quatro vitórias, sete empates e quatro derrotas – e não fez gols.

Fierce player opposition has spurred a rapid Cricket Australia back-flip over the use of a third umpire intervention system in domestic limited overs games, with the experimental playing conditions scrapped in mid-season.Victoria’s match against South Australia on Wednesday took place with the television umpires to be used only in their former role as checkers of close line decisions, after the CA operations manager Sean Cary announced the system had been scrapped in response to criticism across the six states.First used in the Big Bash League last summer, the system was unpopular for its effect on the rhythms of the game, as batsmen were given out then stopped at the boundary’s edge after the third umpire had raised an objection based on television evidence. There were also significant concerns about its inconsistent application from one match to another.”It’s just shocking, it’s embarrassing, it needs to worked out,” George Bailey, Australia’s Twenty20 captain, said after a recent limited overs game for Tasmania against Queensland in Hobart. “I think it confuses the players, I think it confuses the umpires. I think leave it in the hands of the players. You get two, if you use them with bad reviews then so be it.”Cary had initially defended the system, pointing out that last season as many as 12 incorrect decisions had been overturned with the help of video evidence. But after the states had registered their collective discontent and the CA playing conditions committee was consulted, he changed his view.”We assessed the impact the system was having on the competition and we believed there were sufficient reasons to discontinue the intervention system following unanimous support from the State teams,” Cary said. “The CA Playing Conditions Committee will continue to discuss the best model for a review system that can be used in these two competitions in the future.”

Também com passagem por clubes do Rio, a Macaca anunciou o lateral Giovanni, que passou pelo Fluminense e Botafogo. O volante Edson, que estava no Bahia, pertencia ao Fluminense.

A experiência também está presente: Gérson Magrão, com passagens por clubes de referências pelo Brasil pode ajudar na campanha do time. Em contrapartida, Mantuan e Dudu, jovens que chegam por empréstimo, são as apostas para o clube campineiro.

India quick Ishant Sharma and Pakistan keeper Kamran Akmal have been fined for their altercation in the closing overs of the Pakistan innings in Bangalore on Tuesday. The players had been involved in a heated argument in the 18th over of the chase, which Pakistan eventually completed successfully to win the first Twenty20 by five wickets.Both players were reported to the match referee, Roshan Mahanama, by the umpires – S Ravi, C Shamsuddin, TV umpire VA Kulkarni and fourth umpire K Srinath – and charged with ‘conduct contrary to the spirit to the game’. They both pleaded guilty, and Kamran was fined 5% of his match fee. Ishant, though, appealed against the penalty levied; after reviewing video footage and reiterating his view that Ishant had initiated the incident, Mahanama fined Ishant 15% of his fee.Mahanama said with this series being so high profile, it became all the more important for the players to set the right example: “This is clearly a high profile and high-intensity series, and the players on both sides have been reminded of their responsibility. Both players recognised their duty to set the right type of example through their on-field behaviour and they have accepted that they fell short of the level of conduct required.”The game was played in the true spirit till this incident was initiated by Ishant, who is an experienced cricketer.”The incident occurred soon after Ishant had the well-set Shoaib Malik caught of a ball that was deemed too high to be legal. Earlier the same over, Ishant had claimed Pakistan’s other set batsman, Mohammad Hafeez. With the pressure building and a tight finish in view, Ishant beat Kamran and, after exchanging words in his follow-through, the two ended up standing inches apart from each other, yelling. Suresh Raina – followed by his India team-mates – came between the two, as did the umpires, but the talk continued for a while. When Ishant caught Kamran off Ashok Dinda in the next over, he was quite vocal in his celebration.This series is a marquee one, as it revives bilateral ties between the neighbours. The previous one-on-one series between the teams was five years earlier, in late 2007, with bilateral ties hitting a roadblock following the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
