A tie was just as good as a win for India A as they qualified for the tri-series final in a freakish run-fest at New Road, with both teams locked on 343. India were a point behind West Indies A and needed at least a tie to get the two points to ensure qualification, and they didn’t give up till the last ball. Ian Bell’s 158 carried England Lions to what seemed like an unassailable 343, but the Indian batsmen, led by Abhinav Mukund, always ensured that they were in the game.The Lions innings was built around two century partnerships at the top of the order, both driven by Bell. The wicketkeeper Steve Davies added 107 with him for the second wicket, contributing 54 off 52 balls. Iqbal Abdulla, the left-arm seamer, got India the breakthrough when he trapped Davies lbw. It was only temporary relief for India as Darren Stevens joined Bell to script the highest partnership of the innings. The pair added a further 154 off nearly 22 overs to push the Lions towards a massive score. Stevens made 64 off 61 balls before he was dismissed by Abhimanyu Mithun, with the score at 267 in the 42nd over.Bell reached his century off 117 balls, but his next 50 came off just 21. He hit 20 fours and a six before he was dismissed by the seamer Jaskaran Singh for 158 off 143 balls. All the frontline bowlers got smashed, with the exception of Abdulla, who took 2 for 56.It was hard work for the Lions bowlers as well, as the Indian openers added 79 in quick time. Shikhar Dhawan made a brisk 44 off 26 balls before he was dismissed by Liam Plunkett. Ajinkya Rahane then joined Abhinav for a steady stand of 74 to keep their side in the contest. Abhinav then added 41 with Cheteshwar Pujara and 56 with Manoj Tiwary before he was dismissed for 114, bowled by Ravi Bopara. The well-set Abhinav’s presence meant that India were always in with a chance.Fortunately for India, the lower order didn’t disappoint after Abhinav departed. Tiwary blazed 46 off 36 balls and when he was out, Wriddhiman Saha took over. Saha added 38 in quick time with Manish Pandey to take India closer. However, a double-strike by Plunkett tilted the game towards the Lions but Saha wasn’t giving up without a fight. Abdulla’s last-ditch cameo of 13 off just five balls swung it back India’s way. There was further drama off the penultimate ball as Abdulla was run-out after taking a single. India needed two to win and one to tie but they stole a bye to level the scores and seal their place in the final, also against the Lions, on Thursday.

Kamran was dropped after a poor run with the bat and the gloves but returned for the third Test at The Oval after his replacement, Zulqarnain Haidar, was ruled out of the remainder of the tour due to a fractured finger.Kamran’s form has been under scrutiny for a long while now and he experienced an all-time low in the Sydney Test against Australia in 2009-10 when a series of lapses contributed to defeat in a Test Pakistan were poised to win. “There have been some technical issues with both the bat and the gloves,” Kamran told . “I have been looking at the batting issues with Ijaz Ahmed and more recently with Mohammad Yousuf. Missing the match at Edgbaston gave me the ideal opportunity to assess my game and it was the perfect time for some reflection.”Alec Stewart provided me with some tips on my wicketkeeping and I have been implementing Alec’s ideas and thoughts. Para fechar, Mayra Aguiar fez história em 2017 ao ganhar o título do Campeonato Mundial, em Budapeste (HUN). Com 27, a gaúcha conquistou a quinta medalha em Mundiais.

Entre os homens, a dupla, André Stein e Evandro Gonçalves, venceu a decisão do Campeonato Mundial de vôlei de praia em 2017. Os dois levantaram também a taça do Circuito Mundial e ainda foram os líderes do ranking mundial. O mineiro Marcelo Melo terminou a temporada 2017 como líder do ranking mundial de duplas no tênis. O atleta também conquistou seis títulos ao longo do ano, sendo o mais importante o do tradicional torneio de Wimbledon. Já Caio Bonfim alcançou um resultado inédito para a história do esporte brasileiro, ao ficar em 3º lugar nos 20km da marcha atlética do Campeonato Mundial de Londres.

Vale lembrar que o COB também divulgou o nome dos 51 melhores atletas em cada modalidade esportiva. O público terá, ainda, a chance de eleger os ganhadores do prêmio Atleta da Torcida, em votação pela Internet. O resultado será revelado domingo, dia 4 de março, durante o programa Esporte Espetacular, da TV Globo.

A edição do Prêmio Brasil Olímpico 2017 premiará também os melhores atletas dos novos esportes do Programa Olímpico para Tóquio 2020: Beisebol e Softbol, Escalada Esportiva, Karatê, Surfe, Skate, Basquete 3×3 e Ciclismo BMX Freestyle. Na sua 19ª edição, o evento vai homenagear ainda outras categorias, como: Melhor Técnico Individual e Coletivo; Troféu Adhemar Ferreira da Silva; e Melhores Atletas nos Jogos Escolares da Juventude.

O júri formado por jornalistas, dirigentes, ex-atletas e personalidades do esporte foi responsável por escolher os melhores atletas de cada modalidade, assim como os atletas que concorrem ao Troféu de Melhor Atleta do Ano.

Tottenham Hostpur have been handed a boost in their bid to bring Romelu Lukaku to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report by 90min, who claim that Chelsea are now open to parting with the £97.5m centre-forward at the end of the current campaign, with Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain both believed to be keen on the 28-year-old’s signing.

Another interested party could well be Antonio Conte’s Tottenham, with The Daily Mail reporting back in January that the Belgium international would be keen to work with the Italian once again, while ex-pro turned analyst Frederic Gounongbe also claimed in an interview with RTL that Spurs would be interested in a move for the striker this summer.

Lukaku would “go to war” for Conte

Considering the unbridled success Conte enjoyed with Lukaku leading his line at Inter, it is not difficult to imagine the 52-year-old being extremely keen to work with the Belgian hitman once again at Tottenham.

While it is true that, following his big-money move to Chelsea last summer, Lukaku has not exactly been in the best form of his career – having bagged 12 goals over his 37 appearances in all competitions for Thomas Tuchel’s side, only five of which have come in the Premier League – the 28-year-old nevertheless proved last season just how deadly he can be in the final third.

Indeed, over his 36 Serie A outings last term, the £350k-per-week played a key role in Inter’s title-winning campaign, scoring 24 goals, registering 11 assists and creating 10 big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 2.7 shots and making 1.4 key passes per game.

These metrics saw the £76.5m-rated forward who claimed he would “go to war” for Conte average a quite breathtaking SofaScore match rating of 7.32, not only ranking him as the 52-year-old’s best performer in the Italian top flight but also as the joint 12th-best player in the division as a whole.

As a result of these returns, Darren Bent recently stated his belief on talkSPORT that Lukaku would indeed be a fantastic signing for Fabio Paratici to get over the line for Spurs this summer, saying:

“If the worst came to the worst and Harry Kane did go elsewhere, if they could get Lukaku… we’ve seen what he’s done under Conte – he got the best out of him.

“Even down to his nutrition, that was the best I have ever seen him look last season. If there is an opportunity Kane leaves and Conte can get Lukaku, I’d go out all day to get him.

“For someone with Premier League experience, there would be no one better to bring in to replace Kane. I know they are completely different types of players, but Lukaku would be an adequate replacement – certainly with everything he has done with Conte.”

As such, while it would likely take a record-breaking fee – one much greater than the £63m Spurs paid Lyon for Tanguy Ndombele back in 2019 – in order for Tottenham to land the striker Sylvain Distin dubbed a “monster” this summer, it would nevertheless appear extremely advisable for Paratici to do all he can to seal Lukaku’s signing – as the Belgian is undoubtedly a player Conte would love to have at his disposal in north London.
