كشف الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم “فيفا” عن نفاذ تذاكر مباريات المنتخب السعودي ضمن منافسات مرحلة المجموعات في كأس العالم 2022 في العاصمة القطرية الدوحة.
وكانت عملية بيع التذاكر انطلقت اليوم الثلاثاء وفق أسبقية الشراء حتى يوم 16 أغسطس المقبل لكن سرعان ما أعلن الفيفا نفاذ جميع التذاكر في أقل من 24 ساعة.

وبحسب صحيفة “المواطن السعودية” فإن المرحلة الثالثة لبيع التذاكر شهدت إقبالًا جماهيريًا كبيرًا من مشجعي الأخضر، وتم بيع جميع تذاكر مواجهة الأرجنتين، والتي وصل عددها إلى 80 ألفًا، بجانب 40 ألف تذكرة أمام كل من بولندا والمكسيك.

وكان المنتخب السعودي بدأ تحضيراته للمونديال المقبل بخوض معسكر خارجي في مدينة أليكانتي الإسبانية من يوم 31 مايو وحتى التاسع من شهر يونيو الماضي كما سيخوض معسكرًا مغلقًا آخر يمتد لأكثر من شهر قبل انطلاق البطولة يتضمن خوض العديد من المباريات الدولية الودية.

يذكر أن المنتخب السعودي سوف يبدأ مشواره في كأس العالم القادمة بمواجهة الأرجنتين على ملعب لوسيل، ثم بولندا على ملعب المدينة التعليمية، ثم المكسيك على ملعب لوسيل.

واتفق منتخب السعودية على خوض 5 مباريات ودية خلال سبتمبر ونوفمبر من أجل الاستعداد للمونديال.

The Hoops were extremely busy in the final hours of the transfer window, with three players in and three out at Parkhead on deadline day.

Carter-Vickers was the final deal of the day and Celtic’s 12th signing of the window. He penned a season-long loan move to Parkhead, with the Hoops having the option to make it permanent next summer. However, it could have been a different story for the USA international.

The Latest: Torino snub, Hart conversation

According to Football Insider, who were informed by a Spurs source, Tottenham actually accepted a loan offer from Torino for Carter-Vickers. However, the 23-year-old turned down a move to Italy as he wanted to stay in the UK.

He revealed to Celtic TV that a conversation with Joe Hart, who is on £15,000 per week at Celtic Park and previously played for the Serie A side, helped to convince him to move to Scotland.

The Verdict: A shrewd move?

It appears as if Carter-Vickers may well have ended up elsewhere if it wasn’t for Hart, and only time will tell if bringing the American to Glasgow will be a good call.

The good thing is that the Hoops now hold the cards when it comes to the defender. Should he impress, Celtic can exercise a clause to make the move permanent. If he struggles, the Hoops can always send him back to London at the end of the campaign without making a major financial commitment.

Brett Lee, the Australian fast bowler, has dismissed talk of retirement by saying he has four to five years of cricket left in him. “I’m confident in my own mind,” he told the . “If I keep doing the right things, if I look after my body, there’s at least another four or five years left in me.”It all comes down to staying away from injury and looking after myself. Being a fast bowler, things will go wrong with your body, it’s the nature of the beast. But I’ve got a great strength program I’m working on. The game has changed a lot in the last 10 years. It’s gone to a new level. Blokes are fitter and stronger.”Lee has taken 56 wickets in 2008 – his best return in a calendar year since his entry to the Test arena in 1999 – and he believed he had not lost his drive. “I know I’m 32, but the truth is I have missed a fair bit of cricket with injuries, plus I was 12th man [for the Test side] for 18 months,” he said. “I only feel 27 or 28 in bowling terms. I’m still improving. I don’t feel I’m ready for that [retirement] just yet.”A disappointing performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India in October-November saw him bag eight wickets from four Tests at an average of 61.62.However, Lee came back strongly in the recent two-Test series against New Zealand where he finished as the second-highest wicket-taker behind Mitchell Johnson. He picked up 12 wickets at 21.83, including a nine-wicket haul in the second match in Adelaide.With 309 wickets at 30.11, Lee is fourth among the Australian bowlers for the most number of Test dismissals, and close to overtaking his idol Dennis Lillee who has 355 wickets.”To think I’m about 40-odd wickets from going past Dennis Lillee, I find it hard to comprehend,” he said. “It feels like yesterday I was playing for the Oak Flats Under-8s. Dennis was the bloke I emulated in the backyard. When I was 16, I met him at a fast bowlers clinic in Sydney. I remember him saying: ‘You have good pace, if you stay strong, you never know, one day you might play for Australia.’ “Lee said he dreamt of playing 100 Tests which would help him reach 400 wickets – a feat accomplished by only one Australian fast bowler, Glenn McGrath. And he would be keen to reach the figure by the Ashes tour in July next year.But he would be looking to make the most of Australia’s three-Test series against South Africa at home (December-January) and the three Tests in the return series (February-March) before that.

Steven Gerrard’s fitness concerns are continuing to build ahead of their game against St Johnstone this weekend, with Filip Helander the latest doubt ahead of Rangers’ trip to McDiarmid Park.

Gerrard’s squad has already been put to the test in recent weeks with injury and covid issues but they have also been impacted by the international break, with Nathan Patterson forced to withdraw from Scotland duty after picking up a knock against Moldova recently.

Now Helander looks like he could be the latest name on the list of doubts after Sweden manager Janne Andersson suggested that he could miss their clash with Greece on Wednesday due to a fitness issue.

He said:

“Filip Helander (has) run individually in the gym. Some players have been given an adapted training load and will step up gradually.”

“It’s too early to say. We can’t take it for granted.”

A blow for Rangers?

Given that Helander was the hero in Rangers’ last game as they triumphed 1-0 in the Old Firm derby thanks to his header, it would undoubtedly be a blow for Gerrard if he wasn’t fit for their game against St Johnstone on Saturday afternoon.

Whilst there is no real explanation as to why Helander is struggling, the fact that he is a doubt for Wednesday suggests that he might not be at full fitness when he returns to Ibrox after international duty, which will surely anger his club manager.

Gerrard was full of praise for the Swedish defender back in 2019, saying:

“He did ever so well for us in Portugal and he has stepped up and been a leader for us again. So I’m delighted with what he has done this week.”

The 41-year-old manager does have plenty of options at centre-back but has generally preferred Helander and Connor Goldson at the heart of his defence during his time as Rangers boss and will be disappointed if he has to deviate from that in important upcoming fixtures, especially with a Europa League game against Lyon to come at Ibrox next week.

To Australian cricket followers, Johan Botha is a strange choice as the captain of South Africa’s limited-overs side. To his coach Mickey Arthur, Botha is a natural pick as a “leader of men”. Last time Botha was seen in Australia was two years ago when he was cited for a suspect bowling action on his Test debut in Sydney.A remodeled action was eventually cleared by the ICC but he is still a relative newcomer to international cricket, with 36 ODIs and two Tests to his name. But it was the way Botha fought through the problems with his bowling style and returned better for it that encouraged Arthur to trust him with the leadership in Graeme Smith’s absence.”He’s come back a far stronger person after that and any guy that comes back from something like that has to be really mentally strong,” Arthur said ahead of the first Twenty20 international in Melbourne. “That was one of the first signs I saw of the amount of leadership that this player has.”I’m really glad that he’s stepped up, he’s come through all his trials and tribulations. ذكرت تقارير صحفية ألمانية أن الدولي البولندي روبرت ليفاندوفسكي، مهاجم فريق بايرن ميونخ، وصل متأخرًا مجددًا إلى تدريبات النادي البافاري للمرة الثالثة على التوالي.

ويبدو أن ليفاندوفسكي سيسلك مسارًا جديدًا بتمرد مُختلف بعدم الالتزام بعض الشيء، لإجبار النادي للموافقة على رحيله في ظل رغبته في الانتقال إلى برشلونة.

What’s the story?

Along with Emi Buendia, the goalkeeper was involved in the mess which accompanied Argentina’s clash against Brazil a couple of weeks ago, when health officials ran onto the pitch in protest.

The duo have since spent the last ten days in Croatia in order to train, and Smith has now confirmed that while they will return to Villa Park on Saturday morning, a late call will be made on whether they will be involved against the Toffees in the 5:30pm kick-off.

The manager said: “We are expecting them to join us tomorrow (Saturday) morning and I’ll assess it then and decide if they’ll be involved or not.

“We have got their numbers of what they have been doing each day. That gets sent straight to the performance department and passed onto the coaches. They are in a good place physically which is what we need to know. I’ll assess that in the morning and wait until tomorrow.”

He’s a game-changer

The Argentine netminder has been outstanding for Villa since joining from Arsenal back in the summer of 2020, keeping the third most clean sheets in the Premier League last season with 15.

Described as a “phenomenon” and someone who “guarantees ten points per season” by Argentine World Cup winner Daniel Bertoni, Martinez has been nothing short of outstanding for the Midlands club, so much so that he’s become a permanent part of his country’s squad at international level.

While Jed Steer hardly made a mistake in the 3-0 defeat to Chelsea last week, there is a reason why Martinez has been established as Villa’s number one goalkeeper.

While Smith will understandably have concerns over starting someone like Buendia given that he’s an outfield player and will be short of match fitness, as a goalkeeper Martinez should have no real worries at all.

The £31.5m-rated star simply has to start today against Everton, and could well be a game-changer for Villa as they hope to get back to winning ways.
