We wanted to do something different and exciting to stimulate the players. And they’re really looking forward to spending the day with the Army.”Sports and physical fitness play an important part in Army life and I wanted to see what we as professional sportsmen, can learn from them. The Army has put together a great programme, which gives us a taste of how they do things, but will also help the players in developing the particular skills unique to the cricket pitch.”The 18 squad members will take part in a typical Army physical training lesson, as well as a specially designed cricket-orientated team building session. They will also find out about how the Army helps soldiers who have injured themselves get back to full physical fitness.The cricketers will also try their hand at the Army assault course, competing against soldiers from the 3rd Battalion the Parachute Regiment (3 PARA).Physical and adventurous training instructor Sergeant Major Martin Staines, who will be running the day, said:”We hope that the County Cricket Squad enjoy the day. We’ve had fun putting the programme together and I’m sure the lads will relish the challenge of having professional athletes to race against. It should be competitive and we’ll give it our best shot, as I’m sure the Essex County Cricket Squad will do too. It will be interesting to see what happens.”

Certas coisas nas nossas vidas ficam para sempre na memória, e guardamos em um lugar especial. Perguntando sobre o momento mais marcante de sua carreira, Felipe nem hesitou em responder que foi o memorável 5 a 4 entre Flamengo e Santos, um jogo que teve Ronaldinho Gaúcho e Neymar comandando o espetáculo em campo.

-Os títulos são sempre marcantes. Cada um à sua maneira, mas sem dúvidas é sempre um marco na carreira de qualquer atleta. Mas uma coisa que nunca vou esquecer foi aquele jogo entre Flamengo e Santos, na Vila Belmiro, com Neymar e Ronaldo (Gaúcho) “acabando” com o jogo. Neymar fez o gol do Prêmio Puskas. Ronaldo deu a vitória pra gente. E eu ainda peguei um pênalti batido de cavadinha. Aquela partida ficará viva para sempre na minha memória.- Finalizou

Como está sendo feita a preparação para a Copa do Brasil e para a sequência do Campeonato Carioca?

Apesar do clube ser de Bacaxá, treinamos no Rio. O grupo é muito bom, nossa comissão técnica muito experiente. O dia a dia é de muito trabalho, mas também muita satisfação de todos.

Como você projeta o seu futuro no Boavista, do clube e na carreira?

Eu vim para o Boavista para dar o meu melhor. O projeto que o clube montou esse ano foi muito bom, muito sério, com profissionais de muita qualidade. Então meu pensamento no momento é exclusivamente fazer um bom Campeonato Carioca. O que virá depois é consequência de um bom trabalho realizado aqui. Sobre o clube, não tenho dúvidas que tem um futuro promissor. É gerido por pessoas do bem e competentes no que fazem. O futebol precisa disso.

Você retornou Rio de Janeiro, como está sendo essa readaptação no futebol carioca. Está sendo diferente de tudo que já viveu?

O Rio é minha casa. Apesar de ter sido criado em Salvador, eu nasci aqui, minha família toda é carioca. Isso também pesou para eu aceitar a proposta do Boavista. Está sendo muito bom reencontrar amigos antigos. Não existe readaptação à sua casa, né? (risos)

Em 2016, você voltou ao Bragantino, após curta passagem pelo Figueirense e acabou rebaixado com o clube. Como foi para você da a volta por cima e recomeçar em 2017? O que mais te motivou?

O ano de 2016 infelizmente não acabou do jeito que eu esperava. Fui para o Bragantino para voltar a jogar. Sou muito grato ao presidente que me deu essa oportunidade. Correspondi em campo. Fui eleito pela Federação Paulista o Melhor Goleiro da Série A2. Mas no Brasileirão as coisas não andaram. O time não foi bem dentro de campo e aí aconteceram mudanças fora das quatro linhas. Mas pude mostrar pra mim mesmo que eu ainda estou em totais condições técnicas de defender um grande clube novamente. E sigo trabalhando forte, agora no Boavista, com essa mesma confiança.

Você já teve muitas experiências ao longo da carreira, como é transmitir isso para os jovens jogadores?

Procuro sempre conversar com os atletas e mostrar que pra vencer no futebol precisa de muito treino. Não é fácil. Todos os títulos que eu conquistei foram com equipes que não perderam o foco. Então é importante se dedicar aos treinos, para que no jogo as coisas aconteçam da melhor maneira.

Dos técnicos que você já teve na carreira, quais foram mais marcantes?

O próprio Joel (Santana) tem um papel muito importante na minha carreira. Além deles o Mano Menezes, na época de Corinthians, e o Luxemburgo, que foi quem apostou em mim na minha vinda pro Flamengo.

Você pretende algum dia voltar ao Flamengo ou ao Corinthians, seja como treinador ou com outra função no departamento de futebol?

Sinceramente, não tenho ideia ainda do que fazer quando encerrar minha carreira. Está muito longe ainda de acontecer. (risos)

O que você mais se lembra dos bastidores do Flamengo?

Éramos um grupo de parceiros. É claro que existiam os que eram mais afinados com outros. Normal. É sempre assim em qualquer grupo de trabalho, seja qual for a profissão. Mas, de uma maneira geral, havia uma parceria e um respeito muito grande entre todos. Não à toa vieram os títulos.

Por você ser considerado um jogador polêmico, você acredita que isso fechou algumas portas na sua carreira? Se arrepende de algo?

Acho que as pessoas têm uma imagem errada de mim. Eu não sou polêmico. Eu apenas sou autêntico nas minhas declarações. Ou seja, não faço nada demais, além de dar minha opinião sincera sobre o que me é perguntado. Não sou de dar resposta feita para agradar A ou B. Eu falo o que acho certo falar. Mas, infelizmente, as pessoas querem sempre levar para o mau caminho. Isso é muito ruim, porquê acaba fazendo com que os atletas, e até artistas e outras pessoas públicas, tenham sempre frases prontas. Para não criar nenhum tipo de polêmica.

A famosa frase, ‘Roubado é mais gostoso’, ainda te persegue?

Essa história de “roubado é mais gostoso” virou uma lenda. Até hoje ninguém mostrou um áudio, uma imagem, nada meu falando isso. Eu nunca disse essa frase. Mas, infelizmente, alguém inventou isso e todo mundo acreditou. Tive que até ir a público no dia seguinte pra pedir desculpas por algo que não fiz. Isso não existe.

Amanhã será disputada a semifinal entre Flamengo e Vasco, você aposta em algum favorito?

Será um jogão. O Vasco tem o histórico recente favorável, mas acho que o Fla está com um time melhor, mais entrosado. Difícil apostar em um vencedor. Uma pena toda essa confusão sobre o local do jogo, porquê seria bonito demais ver o Maracanã lotado para um jogão desses. Infelizmente o Boavista não conseguiu sua vaga na semifinal, então só me resta assistir pela TV.​

What’s the word?

It’s believed that the north London outfit will look to add two new centre-backs to their armoury before next season and it seems like they are closing in on their first addition in that regard.

Spurs are thought to be leading the race to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna this summer, according to The Athletic, and the player is keen on joining the Premier League outfit.

The ever-reliable Alasdair Gold at football.london has now delivered a fresh update on their search in a recent YouTube video, in which he said: “I think Tottenham are certainly making moves to get Bologna’s Japanese centre-back Takehiro Tomiyasu. He’s only 22 and he ticks a lot of boxes. He’s not going to be very expensive, probably under £20m.

“From what I am told, the logic behind going for him – and this may ring a bell – [is that] he can play centre-back but he’s essentially a defensive right-back, so think Japhet Tanganga, Juan Foyth. That kind of mould.

“The logic, I understand, in going for Tomiyasu is that he will tuck in to allow [Nuno] Espirito Santo’s system to quickly flip from a back four to a back three, and allow Sergio Reguilon to bomb on like an attacking left wing-back, which we know will get the best out of him.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a done deal but from the sounds of it, it’s certainly a move that Tottenham could make happen.”

Gold then went onto confirm that Spurs are also interested in Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, whilst Joachim Andersen, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Fulham last term, and Fiorentina colossus Nikola Milenkovic also remain as other targets.

Fixing a problem

This should come as hugely exciting news for the Spurs faithful as it’s evident that new sporting director Fabio Paratici has already highlighted key areas of weakness and will look to source a solution to give Nuno the best chance of success next season.

Indeed, defensive problems were the Lilywhites’ Achilles heel last term as a combination of individual mistakes and a lack of cohesion saw them finish with the worst goal concession record of any of the traditional ‘big six’.

Toby Alderweireld is entering the final stages of his top-flight career at 32, while Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier both struggled for consistency and were often culprits for those defensive errors, leading to them regularly being in and out of the starting XI.

Tangana has been more utilised as a right-back but still lacks experience, whilst Joe Rodon has rarely seen the pitch since his move from Swansea.

It’s ever so clear that Nuno desperately needs a centre-back or two, so it has to be hugely positive news to see the club linked with so many names, and even more so as it appears that they are close to sealing Tomiyasu.

The Japan international can also play at right-back, where Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty have also struggled to impress, so he effectively solves two problems in one.

That said, the club still need to add another man to that backline but, as outlined above, it’s something they are working on. Perhaps the fans around north London can start to get a little more excited for the new season now.

Some Wolves fans have been left to react to a transfer update involving Ruben Vinagre.

As per A Bola, a deal for him to go to Sporting Lisbon on loan for the new 2021/22 season will close this week.

The deal will have an option to buy for around €8-9m (£6.9-7.7m) and will also have a percentage on the next sale.

Vinagre is clearly surplus to requirements at Molineux, given that he was shipped out on loan to two different teams in the last term, and now the Midlands club are looking to send him out on loan once more.

Thus, it would be good business by WWFC to get some cash in by moving him on, which could then be used to reinvest in the squad.

However, given that he is still just 22 years of age, and so still holds a reasonable market value, the Wanderers should be looking for more money once his loan deal at Sporting expires.

São quase dez meses de conversas, contatos, pressão e negociações, mas a diretoria do Corinthians e o estafe do atacante Caio Emerson ainda não chegaram a um acordo e o jogador de 18 anos está livre para definir seu futuro longe do Parque São Jorge a partir desta segunda-feira – o contrato de formação foi encerrado no domingo, ainda sem uma decisão final. Caio é tratado como alta aposta das categorias de base do Timão desde 2014, quando foi captado do Cruzeiro, e foi artilheiro e destaque da Copa do Brasil sub-17 conquistada pelo clube no ano passado, com participação também de Fabricio Oya e Vitinho, entre outros.

Desde então, mesmo com dez meses a mais de contrato amador, Corinthians e Caio Emerson conversam sobre a assinatura do primeiro vínculo profissional. Conforme o LANCE! publicou, um impasse jurídico e a situação financeira do clube foram determinantes para que o caso se arrastasse sem conclusão, pois segundo acordo firmado há dois anos, o Timão teria que comprar (seguindo metas alcançadas) mais 25% dos direitos econômicos do jogador, além dos 25% que já possuía – outros 50% pertenciam aos representantes de Caio e mais 25% ao Cruzeiro, primeiro clube de Caio Emerson nas categorias de base.

Hoje, apesar do fim do contrato, a negociação ainda não é considerada encerrada por nenhuma das partes. O Corinthians acha que pode convencer Caio Emerson com dois elementos: maior aproveitamento da base no time profissional a partir da chegada do técnico Fabio Carille e visibilidade maior do que ele teria em outros lugares, com chance de disputar a Copa São Paulo mais duas vezes pelo time mais vezes campeão e ser observado pela base da Seleção Brasileira.

O estafe do jogador, entretanto, não abre mão dos valores previamente combinados, mantém conversas com o Timão, mas já negocia com clubes internacionais. Caio completou 18 anos há uma semana e já pode assinar contrato fora do país. Ele já negocia condições contratuais com o Everton (ING), mas também fez avaliações recentes em clubes como Barcelona (ESP) e Granada (ESP), além do futebol italiano.

Caio está no Corinthians desde 2014, mas tinha apenas contrato de formação, válido até domingo. O jogador chegou do Cruzeiro, onde foi destaque da categoria infantil, já com um pré-contrato profissional, mas o Timão não quis exercer o acordo naquela ocasião por conta dos custos. Após a troca na diretoria da base, em setembro de 2016, o Corinthians voltou a negociar o primeiro contrato de Caio Emerson, que teria validade de três anos, mas não fez proposta financeira para efetivar a compra da porcentagem combinada.

He returned figures of 4-61, but the real star of Guyana’s bowling was Mahendra Nagamootoo. The leg-spinner picked up one more wicket to equal the record of 48 in a regional season.The hosts lost three wickets within the first half-hour of play, even though Gareth Breese and Ryan Cunningham looked fairly comfortable at the crease. Breese made 12 off 61 balls before being castled by a King special. Cunningham remained unbeaten on 26 off 48 balls, unable to elicit any support from the Jamaican tail.Bowled out for 277, Jamaica faced further obstacles as the Guyanese openers put on 66 for the first wicket. But Chattergoon was dropped twice – on one by wicket-keeper Keith Hibbert, and on six by skipper Robert Samuels at first slip.Azeemul Haniff was the one to depart first, caught at mid-on in trying to hit off-spinner Breese over the top. Chattergoon himself survived two more chances in the 40s, the second coming just after Lennox Cush was caught at silly mid-off by Leon Garrick.In the post-tea session, Jamaica’s spinners restricted the flow of runs, testing the patience of Chattergoon and Shivnarine Chanderpaul. The latter made 10 off 42 balls before he was trapped in front by Breese, not offering a shot to the ball.Barely four overs before stumps, Chattergoon desisted from playing a shot to a ball from Cunningham that spun viciously and knocked back his off-stump. Chattergoon made 66 off 254 balls, hitting five fours in his innings.Ramnaresh Sarwan (24*) and night-watchman Azib Ally-Haniff (4*) saw Guyana through to the close of play without any further mishap. The visitors were on 149 for four, the runs coming off 77 overs. For Jamaica, Breese and Cunningham picked up two wickets each.

وأضاف في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “جارديان” الإنجليزية: “هذا ليس وقت التفكير في ذلك، الآن هي أفضل لحظة في الموسم، أريد أن أستمتع، وأواصل التركيز على فريقي مع زملائي، للقتال من أجل الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز”.

وواصل: “لقد فزت بها مع زملائي ثلاث مرات، وأنا أعلم كيف يكون هذا الشعور، وأريد أن ينتابني مرة أخرى، وبعد ذلك بالطبع لدينا مباراة صعبة يوم الثلاثاء ضد ريال مدريد في دوري أبطال أوروبا، وهذا هو تركيزي”.

وسئل جيسوس عما إذا كان يرغب في البدء بشكل أكثر انتظامًا، فقال: “لست أنا وحدي، الأمر هكذا لدى جميع اللاعبين، إذا سألت، سيقول الجميع (أريد أن ألعب)، والموسم الذي وصلت فيه إلى هنا لعبت كثيرًا، على ما أعتقد”.

وتابع: “أعرف ما أتوقعه بالطبع، لكنني أعلم أن لدينا لاعبين جيدين للغاية يمكنهم لعب كل مباراة أيضًا، وأحيانًا لا أكون وحدي، هناك محرز، وكذلك ستيرلينج، وجريليش، لدينا الكثير من المهاجمين والأجنحة الجيدين”.
