Unfortunately, it’s not good news for Desmond or the club’s supporters. That’s because the American coach is now being target by his former employers RB Leipzig according to Sky Germany (via Daily Record).

Marsch openly admitted a few weeks ago that it was an honour to be linked with the Celtic job. However, German reporter Christian Falk quickly revealed that he wouldn’t be heading to Paradise.

News of Leipzig’s interest, therefore, only puts further doubt on a move for the RB Salzburg manager.

A stressful situation

It doesn’t matter who the coach is, Celtic are being met by an unrelenting brick wall.

Their initial interest in Roy Keane fell flat on the ground while they are now having troubles with Howe, Marsch and Lucien Favre.

Howe doesn’t want to return to management until the summer while he’s also issued some tricky demands relating to his backroom staff that the Hoops have reportedly said no to.

As for Favre, he’s attracted interest from Saudi club Al-Hilal, a team who may be better suited to paying the extortionate demands that the Swiss requires in order to return to the coaching scene.

Thus, news that Marsch is also a target for other clubs is unlikely to go down well with the Hoops hierarchy.

This saga has been a drawn-out affair and of all the managers to be linked, he is one of the standout candidates.

He has won over 67% of his matches in Austria and has overperformed with Salzburg in the Champions League. His team only just lost to Liverpool 4-3 in the group stages when the Merseysiders were the tournament’s holders.

The 47-year-old won the double in his very first season with the Austrian giants and appears to be improving as a coach all the time.

This was the man that Celtic should have gone all out for; not Howe. Desmond must be tearing his hair out.

O meia Jean Carlos disse que sua estreia pelo São Paulo não foi como ele esperava. O camisa 20 fez seu primeiro jogo no empate em 1 a 1 com o Sport na última quarta-feira na Ilha do Retiro. Ele entrou no lugar de Kelvin aos 19 minutos do segundo tempo.

– Não (foi como esperada), a gente sempre pensa em estrear com gol, mas, acredito que pelo tempo que eu estava parado, foi muito gratificante e favorável. – A gente sente, fazia 30 dias que eu não jogava. Tive a contratura. Acredito que senti um pouco o calor, o ritmo, mas foi importante, consegui tocar bastante na bola e você vai pegando ritmo – disse.

Jean Carlos foi contratado por empréstimo até o Paulista do ano que vem. Ele tem direitos ligados ao São Bernardo e chegou com direitos fixados e o sonho de permanecer por mais tempo.

Fans of Liverpool have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Indykaila claimed that sources have revealed FSG are looking to sell the club.

Following the enormous backlash to Liverpool’s announcement that they had joined the proposed European Super League, the Reds released a statement late on Tuesday evening which revealed that the club had made a dramatic U-turn on their original decision, and that their “involvement in proposed plans to form a European Super League has been discontinued.”

On Wednesday morning, John W Henry – Liverpool’s principal owner – then made a grovelling apology to fans for the Reds’ involvement in the formation of the ESL, suggesting that he and the club heard their dismay regarding the proposals.

However, according to Indykaila, “multiple sources” have claimed that the Reds’ American owners, FSG, are now looking to sell the club, something which appeared to delight a vast number of Liverpool fans, many of whom flocked to Twitter to share their feelings on the matter.

O São Paulo voltou a treinar no CT da Barra Funda após a comemorada virada sobre o Fluminense na 31ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro. Nesta quarta-feira, com o elenco completo, Ricardo Gomes deu início aos trabalhos visando à partida com a Ponte Preta, às 17h de sábado no Morumbi, e abriu a disputa para ver quem formará dupla de zaga com Rodrigo Caio.

Enquanto os titulares faziam exercícios leves, como corridas e trocas de passes, os reservas disputaram atividade tática com a participação de garotos da equipe sub-19. Buffarini, sacado no intervalo do triunfo sobre o Flu e suspenso pelo terceiro cartão amarelo contra a Macaca, e Kelvin, que entrou na vaga do argentino, reforçaram o treinamento.

Na equipe amarela, formada apenas por profissionais, a dupla de zaga foi formada por Lyanco e Douglas. Os dois disputam a vaga deixada pelos suspensos Maicon e Lugano e foram bastante exigidos diante de um ataque veloz com Kelvin, Pedro e David Neres. Serão mais dois treinos até que um deles seja escolhido por Ricardo Gomes.

Charlton Athletic fell out of the playoff zone as they recorded their first defeat in 11 matches on Saturday afternoon.

Nigel Adkins’ side were beaten by fellow promotion hopefuls Peterborough United at The Valley but they will be left reeling in disappointment that they didn’t come away with at least a point.

The division’s top goalscorer, Jonson Clarke-Harris, fired Posh into an early lead in the ninth minute and right before the break, the Addicks had the perfect opportunity to square things up when Alex Gilbey was fouled inside the box.

Jayden Stockley confidently stepped up but saw his penalty saved by the goalkeeper and despite going on to dominate the second half with 68% possession, Charlton just couldn’t find a way back into the match.

Some could blame the Preston loanee for costing his side dearly but there were far more wasteful teammates that should take the brunt of the criticism first.

None more so than Liam Millar, who struggled to make the same sort of impact we saw in midweek.

After a goal and an assist against Plymouth Argyle, the Liverpool gem starved Stockley of decent service throughout the 90 minutes the pair were on the pitch.

Furthermore, Millar could only pull off one successful dribble against the Posh’s right flank of Joe Ward and Nathan Thompson.

His struggle to combat the opposition was further seen by the fact that he made four fouls despite only recording one successful tackle. The 5 foot 11 dynamo even lost 14 of his 20 duels (70%) and was seen losing the ball 23 times – the most of anyone on the pitch, comfortably.

It meant the young winger handed possession back to Peterborough once every 3.9 minutes – or once every three touches – so for all his involvement, he was certainly rather disappointing in terms of end product and on the above evidence, was rather weak and ineffective.

Speaking after the match, Adkins claimed Millar was still “learning his way” but that’s not something they can afford to risk with so much on the line heading into May.

The Addicks are now two points adrift of the playoffs and will need to win that game in hand to rise back into contention this week.
