After signing from Manchester City for a reported fee of around £15m back in the summer of 2019, it’s fair to say Douglas Luiz has really come on leaps and bounds at Aston Villa.

The 22-year-old has been a permanent fixture in Dean Smith’s side since making the switch to Villa Park, already making 67 appearances for the first-team.

His form has even earned him international honours, picking up his first couple of senior caps for Brazil. It’s been no surprise then that his market value has absolutely sky-rocketed, more than doubling in value.

According to Transfermarkt, it now stands at £31.5m, and that’s a real testament to just how much his own play has improved, and how much Smith himself has helped him develop under his wing.

Speaking earlier in the summer, The Athletic journalist Gregg Evans, said of him: “He’s an absolute joy to watch now and I never thought I would be saying that. Villa have got a fantastic player in Douglas Luiz now, he looks like an absolute star, he could have played in that Man United team.

“He was better than (Paul) Pogba, I thought. I thought he was brilliant, hardly did anything wrong, hardly put a foot wrong. He won so many interceptions and made so many important blocks. When he gets the ball, he passes it nicely. He’s the best player in that Villa team at the moment because it’s just not working for John McGinn.”

Make no mistake about it, given how Luiz has developed at Villa Park since his move to the Midlands, Johan Lange played an absolute blinder in signing the Brazilian for the club.

If Villa ever contemplate selling him, or if rival clubs start showing some genuine interest in signing him, they know they could bring in a massive fee.

تحدث المدرب البرتغالي جورفان فييرا المدير الفني السابق للزمالك، عن أداء منتخب مصر تحت القيادة الفنية لمواطنه كارلوس كيروش، في منافسات كأس أمم إفريقيا والفرق المرشحة للتأهل إلى الأدوار النهائية.

وقال فييرا في تصريحات تلفزيونية ببرنامج “رقم 10” على القناة الأولى: “أُتابع كل المباريات لأن مصر لها مكانة خاصة في قلبي ومن وجهة نظري المنتخب المصري مؤهل دائمًا للعب المباراة النهائية”.

وأضاف: “الأداء لم يكن جيدًا خاصة الدفاع وكنت أتوقع الأكثر من المنتخب المصري ولكنه كان أكثر دفاعًا وكان منتخب غينيا بيساو الأكثر تنظيمًا، لستُ هنا لأنتقد أو أقول أشياءً ضد أي شخص، أتحدث كفني، النقطة الأولى لاحظت أن الفريق المصري يرتكب نفس الأخطاء التي ارتكبها أمام نيجيريا وكانت هناك مساحات وكانوا يستغرقون وقتًا طويلاً في التحولات بالكرة فيمنحون فرصة لغينيا بيساو لصدهم”.

وعن تُقييم كيروش، واصل: “أنا مدرب كرة أيضًا ومن السهل أن تنتقد حين تكون مشجعًا أو صحفيا ولكن لا يجب انتقاد المدربين من قبل زملائهم؛ فلكل منهم وجهة نظره وتحًترم، وأحيانًا تكون جيدة و أخرى لا، وسيكون شيء غير جيد حال الحديث عنه”.

وأردف: “كيروش لديه خبرة وأثبت ذلك، ولكن الأمر ليس سهلاً أن تكون مدربًا لفريق كبير، ممكن أن يستمر ويثبت ذلك هو الآن مع منتخب مصر ويستطيع التعامل مع اللاعبين بشكل جيد ولكن أحيانا تسير الأمور بشكل غير جيد”.

واستكمل: “من متابعة أمم إفريقيا نعلم أن الدولة التي تُنظم البطولة دائمًا تتأهل للنهائي وهو ماحدث في مرات عديدة والمغرب أيضًا تؤدي بصورة جيدة بجانب الكاميرون، وقد يكون الأمر مدهشا لكثير من الفرق مثل بوركينا فاسو؛ السنغال لا تلعب بشكل جيد والجزائر أيضًا لم تكن النتائج جيدة ولكن مرشحة دائمًا للتأهل ولنرى ماذا سيحدث”.

واستطرد: “محمد صلاح لاعب رائع ولديه قدرات وإمكانيات رائعة ويستطيع اللعب بشكل رائع وتسجيل كرات جيدة وأعتقد أن ليفاندوفسكي من وجهة نظري يؤدي أداءً رائعًا وأتمنى أن يتوّج صلاح بالجائزة؛ فسيُسعد الشعب المصري وستكون هدية منه”.

واختتم: “تابعت مباراة الزمالك وإنبي وأتابع جميع الفرق المصرية وأعتقد الزمالك لديه إخفاقات ونجاحات وأحيانا يكون الأداء جيدًا وهناك لاعبين شباب بصفوف الأبيض”.

It has been revealed recently that Ronaldo, who is revered as one of the greatest strikers of all time, was subject to a bid from Rangers in 1997, as they attempted to bring the Brazilian to Ibrox following his fall-out at Barcelona.

In a documentary released by Sky Italia last week, Ronaldo’s former agent Giovanni Branchini spilt the beans on Ronaldo’s career and his dramatic exit from Barcelona in 1997, which saw him leave the Catalan club after just one season following a contract dispute, despite him only recently being named the World Player of the Year.

As per the Daily Record, Branchini revealed in the documentary that whilst contract talks with Barcelona were stalled, he and Ronaldo considered the interest being shown by “Lazio, Inter and Glasgow Rangers”.

He also suggests that Rangers made an “incredible” offer for the superstar striker, one that meant that he would only feature in European matches, but in the end, they took the decision to sign for Inter.

He would go on to score 59 goals in 99 appearances for the Serie A side before making the switch to Real Madrid in 2002, where he enjoyed arguably the best spell of his career, hitting 104 goals for Los Blancos.

Although the Ibrox outfit managed to win the Premiership and two domestic trophies the following season under Dick Advocaat, they failed to progress in the Champions League group stages the following season, so it would have been interesting to see how they would have done with a player of Ronaldo’s immense quality up front.

Leicester City could be in line to sign Cengiz Under on a permanent deal after Corriere dello Sport have reported that AS Roma ‘hope’ that they can sell him.

As per the news outlet, the East Midlands club exerted the option to take him on loan for the 2020/21 term for €3m, with the further option to buy for €23m, equating to a total of €26m (£22.3m) should they wish to sign him permanently.

However, the Italian publication also claim that it would be ‘difficult’ for Brendan Rodgers’ team to exert this option, although it has not been ruled out.

Leicester should not give up on Under

The Foxes should not give up on Under just yet, despite his rather tame return for them. The Turkey international has only managed to score a mere two goals and make a further three assists in 19 games in total over all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt), and would surely have been hoping for better numbers.

However, at just 23 years of age, the winger still has a lot of potential and is a more than feasible squad option for LCFC to have.

He has even earned the highest of praises from footballing legends Francesco Totti and Christian Vieri, which should not go unnoticed.

Nonetheless, Under is a player that Leicester should be considering signing on a permanent basis if they are not already thinking of doing.

يواجه مسؤولو الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز أزمة مريرة مع الأندية بسبب تأجيلات المباريات نتيجة فيروس كورونا، والتي أشعلها نادي آرسنال.

وكانت رابطة الدوري الإنجليزي قد قررت تأجيل ديربي شمال لندن بين آرسنال وتوتنهام اليوم، في الجولة الثانية والعشرين من البطولة.

وجاء قرار تأجيل المباراة بناءً على طلب آرسنال بسبب عدم وجود عدد كافِ من اللاعبين، نتيجة إصابات كورونا وإصابات عضلية، إلى جانب وجود لاعبين في كأس أمم إفريقيا.

وذكرت صحيفة “ميرور” الإنجليزية أن أندية الدوري الإنجليزي تشعر بحالة من الغضب بسبب موافقة رابطة البطولة على طلب آرسنال لتأجيل مواجهة توتنهام، حتى إن الأخير أصدر بيانًا هجوميًا أمس.

وأوضحت أن هناك عددًا متزايدًا من الأندية تشعر بالغضب والإحباط بسبب افتقار رابطة الدوري الإنجليزي إلى الوضوح والشفافية، حيث يرون أن الأندية الكبرى تحصل على معاملة أفضل مقارنة بهم.

وأفادت أن كريستال بالاس، تشيلسي ونورويتش سيتي من بين الأندية التي لم تحصل طلباتهم بتأجيل مبارياتهم، على قبول رابطة الدوري، بينما أدعت أندية أخرى أنها بذلت قصارى جهدها لتشكيل فريق مكون من 11 لاعبًا.

وتسبب ذلك الأمر في رد فعل عنيف بين مختلف أندية الدوري الإنجليزي، وتسبب موقف رابطة الدوري الإنجليزي تجاه آرسنال مؤخرًا في إثارة خلاف أكبر أثار غضب باقي الأندية.

وتشعر الأندية المتنافسة أن رابطة الدوري الإنجليزي وافقت على طلب آرسنال لكونه ينتمي إلى فئة الأندية الكبرى في إنجلترا، مع العلم أن الجانرز لم يكن لديه سوى حالة إصابة واحدة بفيروس كورونا وهو مارتن أوديجارد.

وتنص قواعد الدوري الإنجليزي على إمكانية خوض المباريات طالما أن الفريق لديه 13 لاعبًا بالإضافة إلى حارس.

وبخلاف أوديجارد، فإن جرانيت تشاكا يعاني من الإيقاف بسبب الطرد، إلى جانب غياب بيير إيميريك أوباميانج وتوماس بارتي ومحمد النني لمشاركتهم في كأس أمم إفريقيا.

يصر الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز على أن آرسنال التزم بجميع القواعد، بعد أن أوضح أنه إذا كان الأمر يتعلق بمجرد إصابات، فإن المباراة كانت ستمضي قدمًا، لكن حالة كوفيد واحدة فقط تكفي لتأجيل مباراة إذا لم يتمكنوا من إدراج 14 لاعبًا في التشكيل.

ولكن مسؤولو الدوري الإنجليزي يأخذون في الحسبان أيضًا التأثيرات غير المباشرة لفيروس كورونا، والتي قد تعني أن بعض اللاعبين في الفريق قد تعرضوا لإصابات بسبب الإرهاق بعد خوض عدد كبير من المباريات لأن البعض الآخر غير متاح.

ويؤكدون أيضًا أنه بعد كل الحديث عن رفاهية اللاعب، فإنهم يهتمون بمصالح اللاعبين وكل استئناف يذهب إلى المجلس ويُنظر إليه بشكل عادل.

وسيُعقد الاجتماع القادم لمسؤولي الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز في 20 فبراير، ولكن قد يكون هناك ضغط لإجراء مناقشات قبل ذلك التاريخ لحل الإحباطات المتزايدة من قِبل الأندية.
