Revealed: 86% of Liverpool fans want to sign Luka Jovic

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool fans want Jurgen Klopp to sign a striker who can provide genuine competition for Roberto Firmino, and a whopping 86 per cent of fans think that striker should be Luka Jovic.

Klopp and sporting director Michael Edwards have done some excellent transfer business for Liverpool in the last couple of years, adding quality not only to the first eleven but to the squad as a whole.

The signing of Xherdan Shaqiri exemplified this strategy perfectly, and fans want another move of that ilk for Serbian wonderkid Jovic.

The Eintracht Frankfurt striker has been in unstoppable form this season, racking up 12 goals and two assists already this season.

At just 20 years old he still has plenty of room to improve, and his unique blend of power, technique and vision would provide Klopp with a different option to both Firmino and the resurgent Daniel Sturridge.

Fans weren’t happy when reports this week claimed Klopp may not pursue any new signings in January, and a huge majority of want a move for Jovic.

Zielinski can help Tottenham expand into a much better team

Mousa Dembele’s future at the club remains uncertain with reports suggesting a move to Italy could still be on the cards.

The Belgium international has been a crucial player under Mauricio Pochettino during the Argentine’s reign at the club but has less than one year remaining on his contract. Dembele has heavily linked with a summer transfer but ultimately stayed put in north London. The Belgian is currently sidelined until 2019 meaning he may have already played his last game for the Lilywhites.

Reports suggest that Juventus are lining up a move for the maestro when the window reopens in January. With Emre Can and Sami Khedira both struggling for fitness, Juve see Dembele as the perfect alternative as he could be available on the cheap.

To replace him, Spurs should line up a move for Napoli hotshot – Piotr Zielinski. Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, the Poland international was once set to join Liverpool but instead signed for Napoli after impressing during a loan spell with Empoli. Zielinski was a crucial player for his team last season, spearheading Napoli’s title challenge under Maurizio Sarri.

Zielinski is a box-to-box midfielder who would thrive in Pochettino’s system. Blessed with fantastic technical ability, the Pole’s excellent range of passing would lessen the creative burden on the shoulders of Christian Eriksen. Zielinski is also a constant goal threat due to his superb long-range shooting ability.

The 24-year-old possesses a fantastic engine meaning he should have no issues adapting to life in England. Spurs should finally give him the chance to showcase his ability in the Premier League.

Liverpool fans mock Chelsea star Hazard following performance for Belgium

[ad_pod ]

Eden Hazard has been Chelsea’s key man for many years, but while representing the colours of Belgium on Sunday night he was unable to get his team over the line.

Given the rivalry between the Blues and Liverpool, it is fair to say that a handful of fans on Merseyside enjoyed seeing Hazard on the losing side.

The 27-year-old formed part of an attacking trio, which also included his brother Thorgan.

The Chelsea star’s sibling made more of an impact during the Nations League clash against Switzerland as he opened the scoring with two goals.

However, in the end, Roberto Martinez’s team suffered a collapse as the Swiss came from behind to win the game 5-2 and book their place in the final four.

Liverpool fans watched with joy as Xherdan Shaqiri registered two assists, but some also took a minute to poke fun at Hazard, who had a disappointing evening.

The playmaker is regularly described as one of the Premier League’s best, but plenty of Liverpool’s following disagree.

Revealed: Majority of West Ham United fans confident of keeping Diop

[ad_pod ]

Issa Diop has become a regular in West Ham United’s defence, playing alongside fellow summer signing Fabian Balbuena.

The 21-year-old moved to the London Stadium from Toulouse and was one of nine new faces to join Manuel Pellegrini’s era.

It has not been completely smooth sailing for Diop, but he is becoming a crucial part of the team.

Despite this, it seems that Manchester United are keen to break up West Ham’s current squad.

According to a recent report in the Daily Mail, Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho is keen on striking a deal.

The Portuguese coach was unable to land a defender in the summer transfer window, and if these reports are to be believed, then the United boss has not given up on trying to bolster the team’s back line.

More often than not, a club of United’s calibre manage to get the players that they want, but after asking for the opinion of West Ham fans, many of them believe that Diop will resist a move.

Liverpool fans stunned by Keita performance vs Burnley

Loads of Liverpool fans have been running the rule over the win at Burnley, and they’re full of praise for summer signing Naby Keita.

Liverpool continued their incredible start to the Premier League campaign on Wednesday night, coming from behind to beat Burnley 3-1.

The Clarets took the lead courtesy of a scrappy goal from Jack Cork, but James Milner responded quickly with a low strike from the edge of the box.

Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino were then introduced off the bench, and the Brazilian international scored with his first touch after a well-worked free kick.

Xherdan Shaqiri wrapped the game up thanks to a lovely dinked pass from Salah, but Keita was the star of the show.

The Guinean international was starting for the first time since the defeat in Naples back in October, and he absolute bossed the Burnley midfield.

The 23 year-old registered six shots, completed 93 per cent of his passes, and looked to be the only member of Klopp’s starting eleven capable of creating some real danger for the hosts.

Loads of fans have been reacting to his lively performance, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

Opinion: West Ham’s season will take off when Arnautovic, Lanzini and Anderson are working in tandem

Manuel Pellegrini’s stint at West Ham United is beginning to take off in tandem with Felipe Anderson’s mesmerising performances.

That the Hammers’ results have been markedly improved in recent weeks during a period of time in which Anderson appears to have found his feet is certainly no coincidence. Even the absence of talisman, Marko Arnautovic, has not deterred their progress, and that’s partly due to Anderson’s goal scoring exploits.

Reasons for the West Ham supporters to feel optimistic about the future are rising and the return of Manuel Lanzini in the new year is a major one. The Argentine playmaker has been sorely missed this season, leaving Pellegrini without a source of genuine creativity in midfield with Jack Wilshere also sidelined.

His return will undoubtedly be significant for West Ham’s ambitions this season. The success he enjoyed when combining with Arnautovic last season was there for all to see. Between the pair of them, they were responsible for driving the club forward, with direct dribbling and a willingness to be brave in their decision-making providing the lions share of the incisive spark they needed to remain in the top-flight.

Add a winger of Anderson’s star quality into the mix and it becomes abundantly clear that Pellegrini has an incredibly exciting trio at his disposal. Between them they cost £65 million; Anderson arrived for £36 million, Arnautovic £20 million and Lanzini just £9 million.

In the modern economic climate that’s cracking value for three players who, collectively, can install a fear factor into the London Stadium which has been missing since their 2016 arrival. Clubs have rocked up to West Ham knowing full well that they can unsettle the atmosphere by taking the game to the hosts but, with Pellegrini’s impact beginning to make a difference and an attacking trio of star quality set to link up in 2019, results should be set to improve.

Pellegrini has established his reputation as a manager who swears by a free-flowing style of entertaining football, and there have been glimpses of his style in action throughout the season. But the full extent of his genius will remain untapped until Lanzini returns to full fitness and starts in the same eleven as Arnautovic and Anderson.

An exciting future looms on the horizon for West Ham.

Revealed: 73% of West Brom fans want Moore to win the race for Aleksandar Prijovic

[ad_pod ]

According to the results of a recent Football FanCast poll, the majority of West Brom fans want Darren Moore to win the race to sign PAOK striker Aleksandar Prijovic in January.

A report from TEAMtalk last week claimed that Burnley, Southampton, Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough and West Brom were all interested in the 28-year-old, as English clubs scramble to secure a goalscorer in the winter transfer window.

Out of the five clubs that are reportedly interested, the Baggies would seem to be the side who need a striker the least. In fact, Moore’s side have scored an incredible 46 goals from just 22 league games so far this season.

Who are the best away fans in the Championship? Playmaker FC’s Thogden gives his top 10 in the video below…

At 6ft 3in though, Prijovic is more of a target man, and signing him would provide Moore with a different attacking dimension that was lost when Salomon Rondon was loaned to Newcastle in the summer. This could be crucial in the push for automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

Prijovic – formerly of Derby, Yeovil and Northampton – is also a Serbian international with two goals in 12 caps at international level.

Check out the full results of our poll below, where 73 per cent of those who voted said they would support the potential move.

Torreira criticism highlights flaws elsewhere with Arsenal

According to The Sun, Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira has been accused by former player Paul Merson as being overrated.

This may come as a surprise to some fans, as the Uruguayan is one of the most talked about players in the Premier League at the moment. His Man of the Match performance against bitter rivals Tottenham launched him into the public attention, and his recent Player of the Month award is proof of what a player he is.

However, Merson has said that the only reason the 22-year-old is receiving so much praise at the moment is because Arsenal were devoid of a player of his ability. Arsène Wenger refused to bring in a player that has the ability to tackle, intercept and apply pressure from midfield as well as Torreira does, and that is why he looks so good. On the other hand, his passing and creative game is still lacking.

This may be true; some will say it is, some will say it is not. But what these comments by Merson suggest is that Torreira lacks a partner in the central midfield that can take on the responsibility to control the game with his passing. Matteo Guendouzi may develop into this player, but at the moment, it is primarily Granit Xhaka. Perhaps Merson’s comments highlight the Swiss’ deficiencies rather than his teammate’s.

For example, a team like Chelsea need a passing midfielder like Jorginho to complement N’Golo Kanté. The Frenchman is Chelsea’s equivalent to Torreira, and it is Arsenal’s responsibility to find him a partner.

Bournemouth star David Brooks can become Liverpool’s new Philippe Coutinho

Bournemouth’s eye-catching midfielder David Brooks has everything he needs in his locker to succeed Philippe Coutinho at Liverpool, and Jurgen Klopp should most definitely make a move for him either in January or in the summer.

What’s the word, then?

The Welshman has been in stunning form since his £11.5m summer arrival from Sheffield United, and as we head into Boxing Day, he has scored five goals and recorded one assist so far in his first ever season in the Premier League

There is a lot to admire about the 21-year-old’s game. His low centre of gravity enables him to be an effective dribbler of the ball and his work rate off of it is just an impressive. There is a hunger to the youngster’s game that cannot go unnoticed, whereas his immediate impact in top-flight football having previously made just nine Championship starts suggests he could go to the very top.

Against Brighton recently, Brooks stole the show with two goals in a 2-0 win, both strikes showcasing the many strings to his bow. The opener came from a well-timed run and instinctive, flicked header over Mathew Ryan, whereas the second was a long range strike from outside the box which rifled into the back of the net, similar to the way in which Barcelona star Coutinho used to hit them.

He would be a star for Liverpool

The Reds haven’t necessarily missed the little Brazilian since his £142m move to the Camp Nou, as they have since gotten to a Champions League final and sit top of the Premier League, but they do however miss that type of player in midfield.

This was evident in the Merseysiders’ pursuit of Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir back in the summer, only for him to fail a medical. That could be deemed as a blessing in disguise, however, as Brooks, four years younger than Fekir, may be the more suitable option.

Roberto Firmino has thrown a party themed around the colour of his teeth! Watch the video below to find out what we’re talking about…

He has already proven himself at this level, appears to be a naturally fit player who rarely gets injured, and still has bags of potential yet to be filled – Brooks must be deemed as a priority signing by Klopp in the near future.

Revealed: 62% of Everton fans want Neal Maupay

Everton fans have been voting and a clear majority want Marcel Brands to land Neal Maupay, the striker destroying Championship defences.

Marco Silva has continued to try different forward options this season, as the 41-year-old searches for ways to manage his side’s lack of a top quality striker, but each effort has produced similar results.

The former Watford boss was thrown into the predicament when the Toffees elected not to pursue a striker in the summer, having spent heavily on Richarlison and Yerry Mina, while Andre Gomes was brought in on loan.

Cenk Tosun was set to be the leading figure at the club, but has since scored just two goals in the Premier League, resulting in dwindling minutes and no inclusion in the matchday squad to face Burnley or Brighton.

Brentford sensation Maupay, on the other hand, is offsetting the Griffin Park outfit’s leaky defence with 15 strikes in 23 games.

The 22-year-old’s efforts account for 43% of the Bees total 35 goals – the highest contribution rate in the Championship – and he was the division’s joint top goalscorer at the close of 2018, despite Brentford ending the year in 18th place.

A recent Football FanCast poll found that 62% of Everton fans who answered were in favour of Brands pursuing the former French youth international.
