Everton boss David Moyes believes it is important to strengthen the squad with further signings before the market slams shut. Those at Elland Road on Monday evening would attest to that.
You can hardly draw conclusions after one match, especially when that match is the season’s curtain-raiser, but Everton clearly need a right-back and more depth in midfield and up front too.
Moyes wants his side to make real headway in the Premier League this season, competing for a first top-half finish since in 2020 under Carlo Ancelotti.
But more signings are needed, and there’s one rising talent in particular who is viewed as a dream signing for the Merseysiders.

Jack Harrison was pitted against Everton on Monday, having spent the past two years on loan at Goodison Park. Everton were probably right to have fed him into the streaming exodus before the summer, but have yet to sign a direct replacement on the right flank.
Jack Grealish certainly adds some magic to Moyes’ midfield, but the fleet-footed Three Lion is at his best when playing centrally or leaning to the left.

With this in mind, Everton are looking to sign Tyler Dibling from Southampton, having already seen a series of attempts to sign the dynamic attacking midfielder rebuffed this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Friedkin Group “remain in negotiations” with Saints for the 19-year-old, who might also be creeping up Tottenham Hotspur’s shortlist after the Lilywhites fumbled their bid for Arsenal-bound Eberechi Eze.

Why Everton should sign Tyler Dibling
Dibling is a terrific young player, even remarked to be a “world-class talent” by Southampton’s academy manager, Andy Goldie.
He performed admirably in an abject Southampton team last year, notching seven goal contributions across the campaign.
He might be a ‘world-class’ talent, but Dibling has a long way to go before he can stand proud as one of the dominant wingers on Premier League soil. Under Grealish’s wing at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, he might just realise his lofty ambitions.

And where better to nurture his natural abilities than at Everton alongside the 29-year-old? Grealish, after all, ranks among the top 1% of attacking midfielders and wingers across Europe over the past 365 days for pass completion, the top 13% for progressive passes, the top 1% for progressive carries and the top 9% for shot-creating actions per 90, data provided by FBref.
He might have fallen by the wayside on an individual level across his final two years with Manchester City, but Grealish remains one of the most dangerous ball carriers in the business, and Dibling could feed on that if he moves to Everton before the end of the month.
Everton need a right-sided forward, and Dibling could be the perfect man to complete Moyes’ frontline and develop alongside a player like Grealish into the superstar he has been billed as.

Foram inúmeras chances criadas no ataque que poderiam ter aumentado a vantagem alviverde no placar. Rony, Gabriel Menino e Piquerez quase chegaram a balançar a rede na primeira metade da segunda etapa, mas pararam no goleiro Lampe ou na bola para fora. O Bolívar até ensaiava alguns sustos, que logo eram neutralizados pela defensa mandante.

وخاض منتخب الرأس الأخضر مباراته الأخيرة في تصفيات قارة إفريقيا المؤهلة إلى كأس العالم، ضد نظيره منتخب إسواتيني وفاز بثلاثة أهداف دون رد.
وتحصل منتخب الرأس الأخضر بذلك على بطاقة التأهل إلى المونديال الذي سيُقام في أمريكا، كندا والمكسيك، وذلك لأول مرة في تاريخهم، ليحقق إنجازًا مذهلًا.
وذكرت شبكة “راديو مونت كارلو” الفرنسية أن منتخب الرأس الأخضر صنع تاريخًا جديدًا يوم الإثنين، 13 أكتوبر، بتأهله لأول مرة إلى كأس العالم، حيث ضجت مدرجات الملعب بالبهجة والنشوة بعد فوز القروش الزرقاء على إسواتيني.
وأوضحت أنه قد سُجلت صفحة جديدة من تاريخ الرأس الأخضر على أرض ملعب “إل استاديو ناسيونال” في برايا، حيث سجل ثلاثية ضد خصمه عن طريق كل من دايلون ليفرامينتو (48)، ويلي سيميدو (54) وستوبيرا (90+2).

Heading into the final few days of the summer transfer window, Celtic head coach Brendan Rodgers made it clear that he did not want Adam Idah to leave unless he had already been replaced.
The Hoops boss confirmed that he told the board that the Ireland international should not be allowed to move to Swansea unless another striker had been signed.
However, it got to deadline day a couple of days later and the former Norwich City centre-forward completed a £6m move to EFL Championship team Swansea City, despite the fact that Celtic had not signed any strikers.
This meant that the Scottish Premiership giants ended the summer transfer window with Johnny Kenny and Shin Yamada as their only two senior options in the number nine position.
However, Celtic have moved to address their lack of options in that role in the free agent market by swooping to sign Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Hoops were touted with interest in the left-footed forward late in the day on Monday, and Sevilla then ripped up his contract to allow him to sign for the club on Tuesday, after the deadline.
What Kelechi Iheanacho could bring to Celtic
The 28-year-old striker is an intriguing signing for the Scottish giants because he was once a very highly-rated prospect in the Premier League during his time with Manchester City and Leicester.
Iheanacho, who worked with Rodgers during his time with the Foxes, played eight seasons in the English top-flight, and you do not stay in one of the best leagues in the world for that long if you are a bad player.

As you can see in the table above, the Nigerian striker even managed an eye-catching haul of 14 goal contributions in the division in the 2020/21 campaign, whilst being managed by the Celtic boss.
However, it is worth noting that he has only scored six goals in 52 matches in all competitions in the last two seasons, mainly playing in the Championship for Leicester and Middlesbrough, per Sofascore.
That run of form included zero goals and zero assists in nine appearances in LaLiga for Sevilla before they opted to terminate his contract earlier this week.

With this and the report that Celtic wanted two strikers on deadline day in mind, it makes sense that the Hoops are now being linked with another free agent forward.
Celtic in talks to sign English forward
According to The Herald, Celtic have made an approach to sign free agent centre-forward Patrick Bamford after his exit from Leeds United earlier this summer.
The former England international was not due to be out of contract at Elland Road, but a mutual agreement was reached after it had been made clear, by Daniel Farke, that he would not be part of their squad for the Premier League season.

This means that Bamford is available on a free transfer and that the Hoops can snap him up at any point, although it is now too late to register him for the league phase of the Europa League.
Given that Celtic do not have to deal with a club or have to agree a transfer fee to sign the striker, the Premiership champions must now be in talks with the player after making an approach.
It is now down to the club and the player to see if there is a deal that could work for both parties to bring him in as the second striker that they wanted to add to the squad, after the signing of Iheanacho on Tuesday.
Patrick Bamford has shades of Gary Hooper
Bamford could arrive at Parkhead as a player who has shades of former Celtic marksman Gary Hooper, arriving at the club from England with a knack for scoring impressive goals.
The former Leeds marksman has only scored eight goals in the last two seasons in all competitions, but he was still able to showcase his ability to score world-class goals.
Bamford’s strike against Peterborough in the FA Cup last year was a sight to behold, and shows that he does have the quality to score stunning goals when playing regularly.
The 31-year-old striker did not start a single league game in the 2024/25 campaign, and only started 15 times in the 2023/24 season, which means that he did not get too many chances to add to his goal tally.
His ability to score brilliant goals whilst also being a poacher inside the box evokes shades of Hooper during his career, at Celtic and elsewhere, as the English forward was no stranger to a world-class finish.
Hooper, who scored a Bamford-esque volley during his time in England with Norwich City, scored 82 goals in 138 matches for Celtic in all competitions, per Transfermarkt.
He proved himself to be a prolific goalscorer who could find the back of the net consistently, usually from inside the box instead of from range, before his move to Norwich in 2013.
Bamford is at the other end of his career in comparison to Hooper when he first arrived at Parkhead from Scunthorpe United, but he could provide a similar threat at the top end of the pitch.
The left-footed striker, whose finishing quality and work rate were described as “rare” by Jurgen Klopp, has been capped by England and scored 24 goals at Premier League level in his career, which shows that he would arrive in Glasgow with a lot of pedigree.

De acordo com a última parcial de ingressos divulgada pelo Tricolor, cerca de 21 mil ingressos já foram vendidos. Contra o Tigre, se trata de um reencontro histórico. Desde a polêmica final de 2012, esta é a primeira vez que os argentinos retornam ao estádio do Morumbi. Looking to end the transfer window with a flourish of arrivals, Aston Villa have now reportedly agreed a deal to sign a midfield talent with a medical already scheduled to take place.
Who Aston Villa could sign before the deadline
Deadline day is just around the corner and, as such, the frantic search for late reinforcements has officially commenced. Aston Villa, part of that search, still have plenty of work to do and have reportedly launched an opening offer worth as much as £47m to sign Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United.
The Hammers have so far been adamant that the Brazilian is not for sale, however, and their reluctance to negotiate a loan with an obligation to buy may stand in the way of Paqueta’s late move to Villa Park.
Whilst PSR is still limiting their transfer activity, late sales could yet take place to free up some funds for the likes of Paqueta. Emiliano Martinez, for example, is still being linked with a move away from the club, as has been the case all summer long, and Manchester United could yet make a late attempt to secure his signature.
The Red Devils are primarily focused on signing Senne Lammens, but Villa themselves have also asked about the Royal Antwerp goalkeeper and could set off a Martinez domino effect by hijacking United’s move at the death.

Aston Villa set to sign Fletcher Boyd
According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Aston Villa have now agreed a deal to sign Fletcher Boyd from Aberdeen. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder is reportedly scheduled to undergo a medical at the club on Sunday before officially completing his move from the Scottish club.
One for the future, Boyd’s opportunities are likely to come with Villa’s youth sides rather than straight into Emery’s thinking. The pathway to the first-team is certainly one that he’ll have his eye on, however, having already experienced senior football at Aberdeen.

After scoring on his debut for Aberdeen at just 16 years old last year, Boyd received impressive praise from former interim boss Peter Levin, who told reporters: “Just to get his debut is amazing but to score… wow, he will never forget that.
“The fans were unbelievable and for them to sing ‘Fletcher Boyd, he’s one of our own’ is a fairytale for him. Fletcher has been brilliant this season for the under-18s and they won the league the other day. He has contributed to more than 30 goals in the 18s and has just turned 16.”
