Big pictureA power-packed Rajasthan Royals have turned it on already this IPL, winning two matches after posting scores of 193 and 210, and would be keen to extend their stay at the top of the table, when they run into Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium.Having finished second from bottom in 2021 with just five wins from 14 matches, Royals appear to have ticked all the boxes this time, on the evidence so far. Their batting approach has been markedly different, with a run rate in excess of 8.5 in both games. Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson have hit a total of 16 sixes and they also have the likes of Devdutt Padikkal and Shimron Hetmyer, who can notch up big hits without spending too much time in the middle. While teams generally tend to slow down in the middle overs, Royals have scored at 10.07 runs per over in this phase, the highest for any team in IPL 2022.Live in the USA

So far, 200-plus totals have been chased down two of the three times they have been put up, but Royals have defended well in both their games. Barring Nathan Coulter-Nile, who sat out the second match after pulling up in the first with a leg injury, all of their frontline bowlers have been among the wickets, and Yuzvendra Chahal and R Ashwin, who have come together in a dream spin combination, as well as Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna boast economy rates under seven. Glasgow Rangers returned to winning ways at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon with a hard fought 1-0 win over Dundee in the Premiership.

Philippe Clement saw his side lose the League Cup final last weekend, despite the team performing as well as they have against Celtic in recent years.

A slow first 45 minutes saw Rangers dominate proceedings, yet they couldn’t find a breakthrough. Vaclav Cerny ensured the Light Blue started the second half in a positive mood.

The Czech winger was played in behind the Dundee defence before rounding Trevor Carson in goal and slotting in what turned out to be the winner.

Ianish Hagi had a goal disallowed for offside, while the home side also struck the woodwork four times in total during the match.

Cerny delivered yet another match-winning display, and it is a shame Clement can only count on him for this season, unless the club can agree a permanent deal for the forward.

Prior to the clash against the Dens Park side, Cerny had scored nine goals while chipping in with six assists, providing a key threat on the right flank for Clement.

The way he is playing, the winger could surpass Abdallah Sima’s tally of 16 goals from last term in the next few months, and he was the game-changer against Dundee.

During his 75 minutes on the pitch, the 27-year-old registered four shots, made one key pass, and succeeded with 50% of his dribble attempts.

More than that, though, was his ability to consistently find himself in positions that terrorised the Dundee backline, and this is arguably his biggest strength.

Clement will be hoping for more over the coming weeks, especially with another Old Firm clash to come against Celtic at the start of 2025.

Another player who is coming into form at precisely the right time is Hagi. Will he play a key role over the festive season?

Ianis Hagi can be Clement’s star man

Cerny may have scored the matchwinner, but it was Hagi who was close to adding number two, although his effort was ruled out.

Throughout the game, the Romanian made one key pass, attempted seven crosses, succeeded with 100% of his dribbles, and even hit the woodwork in what was an impressive showing by the midfielder.

His 73 touches ranked him sixth in the Rangers side, proving how much he wanted to get on the ball in order to make something happen.

By winning six out of seven ground duels, Hagi also demonstrated his strength in one-on-one battles, something which would have pleased Clement.

After not featuring for the first team until October due to a contract dispute, Hagi has enjoyed a redemption of sorts. Against Dundee, he was certainly Clement’s true hero, and it appears as though the Belgian has found a position in which Hagi can dictate the play from deep, utilising his creative talents.

Keep up this form, and he could soon be undroppable, that’s for sure, as he has a big influence in the middle of the park with his willingness to get on the ball and take responsibility for making things happen at the top end of the pitch.

The central defender remains an integral figure under Daniel Farke, so to lose him midway through a promotion charge would be the ultimate blow for Leeds. That said, the Whites also have the chance to use the winter window to their advantage and have already been linked to the likes of Emiliano Buendia as a result.

The Aston Villa midfielder has struggled for game time since returning from a long-term injury and desperately needs the chance to get back to his best.

Rather than an attacking reinforcement, however, the 49ers Enterprises look set to focus on a defensive addition come next month. According to Top Mercato, Leeds have submitted an opening offer to sign Abdukodir Khusanov ahead of the likes of Manchester City, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Offering a reported €20m (£17m), Leeds are likely to fall short in their first offer given that RC Lens value their centre-back at around €30m (£25m) if they are to grant his departure in the January transfer window. Whether those at Elland Road decide to meet that price tag remains to be seen, but Khusanov is certainly one to watch.

At just 20 years old, the Uzbekistan defender has attracted plenty of interest and could have quite the decision to make if Leeds push on in pursuit of his signature next month.

Given recent reports and their recent history of losing star players, it’s no real surprise to Leeds being linked with a young central defender who’d instantly ease any damage caused by the potential departure of Struijk.

Of course, he remains a key man under Farke as things stand, but things can quickly change at Elland Road. The last thing that they need is to lose their best defender without having an adequate replacement.

Impressive numbers for a more experienced defender, let alone a 20-year-old, it should come as little shock that the likes of Manchester City and Spurs are also seemingly keeping an eye on Khusanov.

Described as “tenacious” by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig, the Lens star’s best football is yet to come. As of right now, the main question is just where he will become the main man and just who will benefit. After reportedly submitting their first offer, Leeds will certainly hope that it’s Farke’s side who could reap the rewards by signing such a talent.

وتحصل إنتر ميلان على ضربة جزاء قبل نهاية الشوط الأول، في حين رفض الحكم احتساب واحدة لـ برشلونة في الشوط نفسه.

وأكد: “أحيانًا تعتقد أن بعض قرارات الحكام غير عادلة، لكن عليك تقبل الأمر والبدء من جديد في الموسم المقبل، الفوز بدوري أبطال أوروبا هو أحد أهدافنا وإسعاد جماهيرنا، لقد دعمونا بقوة”.
