The window for the unfinished 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League is likely to begin on May 23, with at least seven days of quarantine to start. The PCB had chalked out two options, with one involving double-headers every day from June 6 and a final on June 20. But ESPNcricinfo understands that the franchises preferred the other option, to have mostly one game per night from June 2, with a final on June 20.The first option had eight straight double-headers with 16 matches scheduled in 10 days followed by three playoffs in two days with the final on Sunday. The second option covers 16 group matches in 13 days. There was a minor disagreement on the timing and the number of days of quarantine, which is still being worked out, with the final decision to be taken by the PSL management in due course.The year’s edition was suspended only after 14 matches, following a spate of Covid-19 cases among players and support staff. It has been decided to resume the season in Karachi in two and a half months’ time with the PCB offering two windows after revamping their coronavirus protocols, which have come under severe fire in the wake of the season stalling in very abrupt fashion. After the postponement, the PCB constituted a two-member independent committee consisting of infectious disease specialists who will both help the PCB get to the bottom of how an outbreak occurred inside a bio-secure bubble and advise the board on stricter safety measures so that it doesn’t happen again. The head of the PCB medical department Dr Sohail Saleem has already handed in his notice in the fallout.The new window will not clash with the Indian Premier League but the English season will coincide with it. It is understood that several English players are likely to miss out due to a clash with the County Championship and the T20 Blast. The PSL will have a round of replacement drafts closer to the event to allow franchises to have new players on their roster.In June, Pakistan doesn’t host much cricket because of the intense heat. There was one exception though, in 2008, when they hosted their first-ever Asia Cup between June 25 and July 6. Karachi has been chosen as the venue because the weather there is considered to be milder during the summer months.

Flamengo:

كشفت تقارير صحفية تركية عن قيمة انتقال اللاعب محمود حسن تريزيجيه، إلى صفوف الأهلي، بعدما أعلن الأخير عن صفقة الحصول على خدماته، نهاية الموسم الحالي.

وأعلن الأهلي، في بيان رسمي منذ قليل، تعاقده مع محمود حسن تريزيجيه بمقتضى عقد لمدة خمس سنوات، يبدأ الصيف القادم.

ويلعب تريزيجيه في الوقت الحالي في صفوف الريان القطري، على سبيل الإعارة من طرابزون سبور التركي.

وحسبما ذكرت شبكة “Sports Digitale” التركية، فإن القيمة المالية لصفقة انتقال تريزيجيه من طرابزون سبور إلى الأهلي، تبلغ 1.6 مليون يورو.

ليس هذا فقط، بل إن تريزيجيه قام بلفتة جيدة بعدما قرر الاستغناء عن مستحقاته لدى نادي طرابزون سبور، مع العلم أنها تبلغ 100 ألف يورو.

كان تريزيجيه قد انتقل إلى طرابزون سبور قادمًا من أستون فيلا، في صيف 2022، قبل انتقاله مُعارًا إلى الريان القطري في سبتمبر الماضي.

ومن المفترض أن ينتهي العقد الحالي لـ تريزيجيه مع طرابزون سبور في صيف 2026، إلا إنه سيرحل عائدًا إلى ناديه السابق الأهلي، بمجرد انتهاء هذا الموسم.

وبدأ تريزيجيه مسيرته في صفوف الأهلي، حيث شارك في 87 مباراة، وسجل 7 أهداف وصنع 9.

Everton chasing swoop for World Cup winner

According to reports in Spain (via Sport Witness), the Goodison Park side have joined the chase to sign Sevilla defender Gonzalo Montiel.

Another update has come from Argentine journalist Uriel Lugt, who said via X: "Everton and Borussia Dortmund add to the interest in Gonzalo Montiel. There are already talks underway for the full-back to leave Sevilla definitively. Nottingham Forest is also in the bidding."

It certainly looks as though the 27-year-old is keen on leaving Spain. Will it be a temporary deal? Or will the Toffees make a solid proposal to fend off other interest and bring him back to the Premier League?

Gonzalo Montiel’s 2023/24 season in numbers

The Argentinian made just one appearance for Sevilla last term before joining Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan deal.

Overall, he made 19 appearances for the club, grabbing three assists, as he eventually worked his way into the Argentinean side for the Copa América, held this summer.

The 5 foot 11 defender, who was hailed as an “animal” by former coach Julen Lopetegui, started just eight times in the top flight, but he did show glimpses of his attacking qualities.

Indeed, the right-back created four chances, averaged 0.6 key passes per game and succeeded with 100% of his dribble attempts, not bad for a player who averaged only 58 minutes per game.

These forward-thinking capabilities could make him a dream signing for Jack Harrison, who has operated on the right wing in Everton’s opening two matches of the season.

The Englishman scored four times and grabbed three assists last season, but this could increase if he has someone like Montiel playing Harrison into better positions, rather than the ageing Ashley Young or Seamus Coleman.

Indeed, when compared to his positional peers in the Premier League last season, Montiel ranked in the top 12% for assists per 90 (0.22), while ranking in the top 7% for tackles, underlining how effective he was bursting forward up and down the right flank.

This could allow Dyche the chance to partner him with Harrison on the right wing, which should ensure plenty of goalscoring chances come from out wide, especially if the duo click together.

The next few days will be mightily important for Dyche, even more so considering the poor start to the season Everton have had.

Another signing or two may just boost the morale at the club heading into September.

Mehidy Hasan took 4 for 30 to wreck Sri Lanka’s top order and set Bangladesh on track to defend their 257 for 6, which in the end, they managed easily, despite a valiant Wanindu Hasaranga innings. That they were chasing so many on a sluggish surface was down to Mushfiqur Rahim’s 87 off 84, as well as half-centuries from Mahmudullah and Tamim Iqbal. It had been a 107-run fifth-wicket stand between Rahim and Mahmudullah that raised Bangladesh from a difficult middle-overs position, and delivered them in a healthy state to the death overs.But it was Miraz who made the most decisive plays of the match. He claimed the first wicket of Sri Lanka’s innings, getting Danushka Gunathilaka caught and bowled in the Powerplay, before coming back in the middle overs to dismiss Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva and Ashen Bandara – all of them bowled – to leave Sri Lanka gasping at 102 for 6 in the 28th over. Nearly a week ago, Liverpool completed a deal to sign Italian winger Federico Chiesa from Juventus – strengthening Slot’s forward line for the 2024/25 campaign.

Just a handful of years ago, the 26-year-old was lighting up the Euros for his nation, but after an ACL injury, he’s found it difficult to capture his best form in Serie A.

However, he still managed to register 12 goal contributions in his 33 league appearances last term – with his form in front of goal undoubtedly improving the options available to Anfield.

The defensive department will always be a strong one for Liverpool if Virgil van Dijk is there, with the 33-year-old a crucial player for the club.

After joining from Southampton in a £75m deal back in 2018, the Dutchman has made 273 appearances for the club – playing a pivotal role in helping the club reach various Champions League finals.

However, he only has one year left on his current deal in Merseyside, with his future still up in the air after the recent transfer window – much like one of his teammates…

Alexander-Arnold’s market value in 2024

After coming through the club’s academy setup, right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold made his first team debut during the 2016/17 season under former boss Klopp – the start of a successful career for the boyhood fan.

The 25-year-old “genius”, as described by The Athletic’s Caoimhe O’Neill, has made 313 appearances for the Reds, scoring 19 goals and making himself one of the most highly rated full-backs in world football.

As a result of his stellar performances, he’s seen his market value skyrocket, with the England international now valued at £59m as per Transfermarkt.

His subsequent value is higher than the combined figures of Chiesa and Van Dijk, with the Italian costing the club £12.5m and with the centre-back valued at £25m over six years on from his big-money transfer.

With Alexander-Arnold out of contract at the end of the season, the club will want to tie him down to a longer-term deal to avoid losing him for free in 12 months' time.

He’s been a hugely influential figure, with his talents in and out of possession a huge asset to new boss Slot for the current campaign.

Ceni falou que se colocou à disposição para conversar com os torcedores, mas o pedido não foi aceito, já que a reunião seria somente com jogadores e diretoria.

-Sobre torcedores que foram ao CT, não os vi. Me coloquei à disposição, e disse que eu conversaria com torcedores para não ter exposição dos atletas. Torcedores que eu defendi durante 25 anos. Mas infelizmente não aceitaram falar comigo, queriam falar com jogadores.Acho que foram quatro jogadores, me coloquei a disposição para não expor jogadores. Mas como não ocorreu aceite. Eu tive que deixar jogadores. Para não ter consequências piores. Lamento torcedores não conversar comigo, e deveriam pensar – disse Ceni.

Apesar das cobranças na reunião, Ceni disse que, pelas informações, foi algo tranquilo e cordial, sem grandes entreveros.

-Alguém que defende mais o clube que eu, que tenta fazer o melhor que eu, não sei, depois de tanto tempo junto. Mas faz parte do processo. Pelo que me passaram foi algo tranquilo, cordial. Quem sabe na próxima oportunidade a gente possa conversar com todos torcedores – finalizou Ceni.

A vitória contra o Palmeiras tira um pouco da pressão do São Paulo, que está na 14ª colocação, com 41 pontos. O próximo compromisso é somente na quarta-feira (24), quando enfrenta o Athletico-PR, às 21h30, no Morumbi.
