Everton given Richarlison transfer boost

Richarlison has been linked with a move away from Everton for months following a disappointing season at Goodison Park, however, a new update has emerged on the Brazilian’s future.

What’s the latest?

According to Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Real Madrid are not interested in signing Richarlison this summer.

This comes as a big twist to the tale following widespread reports that the Spanish side were indeed hoping to sign him over the summer months.

Di Marzio now claims that after Los Blancos lost out on Kylian Mbappe, they currently have no plans to take on another winger this summer after sporting director José Angel Sanchez and owner Florentino Perez held a meeting to discuss the transfer window strategy moving forward.

Supporters will be delighted

There is no doubt the news that Real Madrid have cooled their interest in Richarlison will delight supporters as he has been crucial for the Toffees in one of their most difficult seasons to date and has become a fan favourite at the club.

Despite the relegation worries throughout the season, the 25-year-old stepped up when it really mattered for Everton, scoring six of his ten Premier League goals in his last ten appearances making him the top goal contributor for the Toffees in 2021/22.

The Brazilian’s goals and assists this season compared to the players around him has ultimately saved the club from a spell in the Championship next season, something that supporters will be massively grateful for and it would be hard for fans to see him go after delivering impressive performances when it mattered most.

Richarlison has been a big hit at Goodison Park since he arrived in 2018, and has been one of the very few transfers that have worked out for Farhad Moshiri, scoring 53 goals and delivering 14 assists in his 152 appearances, so losing him this summer would be a huge loss and it would take a lot of work to replace a consistent goal threat of his quality.

With that being said, Real Madrid are not the only club that have reported interest in signing the attacker ahead of next season with Manchester United already making an approach to sign him last month. Therefore, Frank Lampard will need to do everything to convince the star to stay on Merseyside next term.

Spurs: Paratici makes Lenglet contact

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to bring Clement Lenglet to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by Spanish publication Sport (via Sport Witness), who claim that Fabio Paratici has now made contact with Barcelona concerning a move for the 26-year-old centre-back this summer.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/tottenham-hotspur-latest-news-updates-transfer-rumours-gossip-spurs-thfc-conte-paratici” title= “Read the latest Spurs news, transfer rumours and more!”]

The report goes on to state that Arsenal, Newcastle United and Everton have also made contact with the LaLiga side regarding a deal for the France international, while the player himself is believed to be open to a temporary move away from the Camp Nou after being informed he is not currently a part of Xavi’s first-team plans.

“Similar to Laporte”

While it is true that Lenglet has seen his game time become rather limited following Xavi’s appointment at Barca back in November, it is nevertheless easy to see why Antonio Conte would be interested in a move to bring the left-footed Frenchman to north London in the summer transfer window.

Indeed, according to FBref data, the £34m-rated talent ranks in the top 1% of centre-backs in Europe’s big five leagues for passes attempted per 90, as well as the top 1% for progressive passes, the top 1% for progressive carries, the top 18% for passes completed, the top 6% for assists and the top 10% for xA over the last 365 days.

The £99k-per-week defender who Andrew Gaffney dubbed “similar to Laporte” also ranks in the top 15% for pressures per 90, in addition to the top 39% for tackles, the top 43% for aerial duels won, the top 20% for npxG+xA and the top 24% for progressive passes received over the last 12 months.

These metrics see FBref compare the 15-time capped international to some of the most exciting defensive talents in world football, such as Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano, Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni and Manchester City’s Ruben Dias.

As such, while Lenglet is certainly not the most glamorous left-sided centre-back Tottenham have been linked with this summer, the 26-year-old would very much appear to make an extremely impressive addition to Conte’s current options at the back.

Indeed, the Frenchman’s apparent defensive weaknesses would easily be balanced out by the incredibly solid Eric Dier and Cristian Romero, while the former Sevilla starlet’s quite spectacular range of passing would undoubtedly add an extra dimension to Spurs’ build-up play from the back.

As such, considering his availability on a loan deal – with the potential of this including an option to buy clause, similar to Romero – as well as his undoubted ability with the ball at his feet, it would very much look as if the signing of Lenglet could be something of a no-brainer for Paratici this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur: Negotiations for Ndombele exit now underway

According to French outlet Telefoot, Tottenham Hotspur are now in negotiations with an unnamed Spanish club over a deal for Tanguy Ndombele, who looks highly likely to leave the Premier League giants this summer.

The Lowdown: Ndombele’s Lyon return

The midfielder first arrived in N17 back in 2019 from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon, for what was at the time a club-record fee of £63m. Aafter a disappointing start to the 2021/22 campaign with the Lilywhites, the 25-year-old rejoined his former club in January for the remainder of the season.

Included as part of that deal was an option to buy, but Peter Bosz’s side have made the decision not to take the offer up, meaning that the maestro has returned to Spurs, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he will be staying put.

Before making the switch back to his home nation, it was reported by L’Equipe that whilst Roma and Napoli were interested in the starlet, a move to Spain could well be next on the agenda, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid being viewed as potential future destinations.

The Latest: Unnamed club in negotiations

In a new article published by French outlet Telefoot (via The Mirror), it’s claimed that an ‘unnamed’ Spanish club are ‘already in negotiations’ with Spurs over a possible deal for Ndombele, with a departure from north London seeming ‘imminent’.

The source goes on to state that it is yet ‘unclear’ whether the seven-cap international would be allowed to leave Tottenham on a temporary basis again.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-developments-2/” title=”Tottenham latest developments!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Verdict: Time to sell

During his recent short stint with Lyon, Ndombele made 11 appearances in Ligue 1 and provided two assists, as per Transfermarkt, but all in all, it was a disappointing season for the French giants, who only managed to secure an eighth-place finish.

The 5 foot 11 creative, who was once dubbed a “phenomenal” player by former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho, has majorly fallen down the pecking order since Antonio Conte arrived in the capital, having only played 287 minutes of football across all competitions before his loan move, so it comes as no surprise to see that he is likely to leave the club during the upcoming transfer window.

The Italian has already started his summer squad revamp with free transfer moves for Ivan Perisic and presumably soon Fraser Forster, but eventually he’s going to need to splash some cash, and the club must surely be prioritising a permanent deal to get some funds back for Ndombele.

In other news… Conte is reportedly now ready to cash in on a 25 y/o first-team star this summer.

McLeish drops big Rangers claim

Sky Sports punditSky Sports pundit Alex McLeish has now dropped a big Glasgow Rangers claim involving three key players at Ibrox.

The Lowdown: Contracts expiring

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team have a few key players whose contracts are set to expire next year, including the likes of Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Joe Aribo.

It means that they can all leave on a free transfer next summer, unless new deals can be struck or bids arrive this year, while the likes of Allan McGregor and Leon Balogun are all set to leave even sooner.

The Latest: McLeish reacts

Asked about the players’ contract situations, former Light Blues manager McLeish admitted to Football Insider that it is ‘worrying’ to see so many running down, although he claims that there will be talks ‘in the coming days, weeks and months’ to try and get them renewed:

“I think it will always be there at the back of their minds.

“At the same time, they have to have that mentality and professionalism that they have to put all that aside when it comes to the action.

“It is a little bit worrying when contracts are running so close to finalising. We all talk about the coming months and it’s something Rangers have to deal with.

“Whether they feel the need to bring some money in and somebody goes for a big fee, Calvin Bassey, there’s been talk about him. That helps Giovanni bring his players in as well.

“The ones he feels are at the top quality, he won’t want to let them go.

“I’m sure the strategy won’t be to allow the contract to run down. I’m sure there will be talks galore in the coming days, weeks and months.

“Sometimes it can go right to the wire, as we’ve seen with Connor Goldson. That is the wee dilemma that intrigues the football world, especially the Rangers fans.”

The Verdict: Get it sorted

The Teddy Bears simply cannot afford to let a host of their best players go over the next year or so, especially without getting any transfer fees for them.

Thus, they need to tie them down to new deals as soon as possible, in order to fend off any potential interest this summer or at the very least ensure they get a decent fee.

They could perhaps look to sell just one player for a big number, possible Bassey as McLeish mentions, which would then give them the money needed in order to help renew the other contracts and keep the majority of the squad together.

Alasdair Gold reveals Troy Parrott plan

According to football.london journalist Alasdair Gold, a plan is being put into place for youngster Troy Parrott to make a breakthrough into the Tottenham Hotspur first team in the 2023/24 Premier League season.

The Lowdown: Parrott’s outstanding development

The 20-year-old spent the last campaign out on loan at MK Dons to find some much-needed game time, and it’s a move that has more than paid off, with the forward coming on leaps and bounds in the lower leagues.

During his spell in the third-tier, the forward netted ten goals and provided seven assists across all competitions, as per Transfermarkt, and played an instrumental role in helping the League One outfit secure a place in the play-offs.

The Latest: Developing behind the scenes

In a new article published by Gold for football.london, Gold says Parrott wants to ‘spend another season out on loan’ before making a return to ‘really challenge’ for a place in Antonio Conte’s starting XI from 2023/24.

The Irishman, who has been improving ‘behind the scenes’, could head out on the Lilywhites’ tour to Korea and get the opportunity to ‘finally impress’ the Italian, but Championship clubs Swansea, Middlesbrough, Preston and QPR all want to bring him in on a temporary deal.

It’s reported that the striker’s current deal in the capital is set to expire in just over 12 months time, but there is an option included to extend it for a further year.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-developments-2/” title=”Tottenham latest developments!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Verdict: One for the future

With Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min not getting any younger, Spurs will be keeping a close eye on their up and coming attackers, and Parrott, once dubbed a “sensational” player by MK Dons, is definitely someone who has the potential to go on and become a star number nine in north London.

Not only has his goalscoring record improved, but also his work rate on the pitch has massively increased, and this is something that will only boost his chances of shining on the international stage, having already been capped 13 times for his country.

The Dublin-born talent will now report back to N17 a more physical and confident player as he prepares to depart Hotspur Way one last time before going all out to fulfil his ambitions of staking a claim in the Spurs first team.

In other news… a reliable journalist has shared an exciting transfer rumour involving one of Spurs’ summer targets.

Areola close to signing for West Ham

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, West Ham are now ‘increasingly confident’ that Alphonse Areola will sign a permanent contract at the London Stadium.

The Lowdown: From Paris to London

The Frenchman arrived in the Premier League when he joined the Irons on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, and hugely impressed between the sticks when given a run in the starting XI, which was mostly during the club’s multiple cup runs.

There was an option to buy included, and it sounds as though David Moyes is keen to retain his services for the new campaign and beyond after what he’s seen from the goalkeeper.

The Latest: Areola closing in on move

Taking to Twitter, Romano revealed that Areola’s move is now ‘getting closer’ to being completed as the club continue to hold talks. He wrote:

“West Ham are finally progressing in talks to sign Alphonse Areola on a permanent deal, agreement now getting closer – positive feelings on player side too.

“West Ham are increasingly confident as Areola deal will cost around €12m.”

The Verdict: Fantastic track record

With Nayef Aguerd already having put pen to paper with the Hammers, Areola is now likely to become Moyes’ second official signing of the summer, and it’s easy to see why the boss was desperate to keep hold of him.

Despite only making 15 appearances in goal across all competitions due to being the second-choice option to Lukasz Fabianski, the 29-year-old kept a total of eight clean sheets, as per Transfermarkt, highlighting that he rarely makes any mistakes when named in the starting line-up.

The 6 foot 3 powerhouse must have been given some kind of assurance that he’ll receive more game time if he committed himself to the club moving forward, but this is a hugely positive step in the right direction and one that sets West Ham up for a big few weeks of business.

Leeds: Source brings Traore claim

Leeds United are interested in signing Sassuolo attacking midfielder Hamed Junior Traore, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness).

The lowdown: Family affair

The brother of Manchester United wonder-kid Amad Diallo, Traore has been lighting up Serie A over the last three seasons and earned a £14.4million move from Empoli last summer (Transfermarkt).

Having continued to make great strides following the switch to Sassuolo, the 22-year-old Ivory Coast international could now be set to follow in his brother’s footsteps and head to the Premier League.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-leeds-united-news-45/” title=”Latest Leeds United news!” poster=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cropped-2022-03-10T184055Z_1834933207_UP1EI3A1FW561_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-ENGLAND-LEE-AVA-REPORT-1-scaled-1.jpg” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Previously linked with a €30million (£25million) move to AC Milan, one reputable Italian source has now brought the Whites into the equation…

The latest: Leeds cited

As per Gazzetta dello Sport, transcribed by SW, Leeds are described as ‘the most determined at the moment’ to make a deal happen having established contacts.

It’s claimed that both the Elland Road club and Milan remain attentive to the three-cap ace and will have to ‘bring offers of €25million (£21million) upward’ in order to prompt Sassuolo into selling their attacker.

The report also states that ‘no one apart from Leeds has pushed the deal forward’ for the youngster praised for a ‘magnificent’ 2021/22 campaign by football talent scout Jacek Kulig.

The verdict: Pay up

At the mooted asking price, adding Traore to Jesse Marsch’s squad would be an exceptional piece of business, particularly when you consider the Ivorian’s age and apparent sky-high ceiling.

Generally playing as an inverted left winger onto a favoured right foot, the dynamic forward scored eight times and provided four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions last season and would be the ideal candidate to supplement the options already at Marsch’s disposal, especially with the future of Jack Harrison remaining in the balance amidst links with Newcastle and Tottenham.

Overall last season, Traore earned a 6.90 Sofascore rating whilst successfully completing 2.0 dribbles on average per Serie A outing – that’s more than renowned close control expert Raphinha, who only managed to succeed with 1.8 attempts per league game.

All told, given the levels of interest and the suggested price tag, Victor Orta and indeed Andrea Radrizzani should be pushing hard to make this deal a reality.

Leeds to make £26m offer for Charles de Ketelaere

Leeds United will make a £26m offer for Club Brugge star Charles De Ketelaere, according to The Daily Mail.

The Lowdown: De Ketelaere profiled

De Ketelaere is just 21 years of age and is primarily an attacking midfielder who can play anywhere in midfield or in attack.

Described by journalist Frans Buyse as a player who ‘possesses great vision and a superb passing range’, the Belgium international has contributed to 45 goals in 120 goals for his current employers.

He is coming off the best season of his career with watched De Ketelaere closely.

The Latest: Leeds to bid for De Ketelaere

The Daily Mail shared a story on Saturday, revealing that Leeds are launching a £26m bid for De Ketelaere.

Sources from Belgium claim that AC Milan also hold a strong interest in the player, who is tipped to become the next ‘big talent’ from his homeland.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-leeds-united-updates-5/” title=”Latest Leeds United updates!” poster=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cropped-2022-03-10T184055Z_1834933207_UP1EI3A1FW561_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-ENGLAND-LEE-AVA-REPORT-1-scaled-1.jpg” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Verdict: Phillips money?

Leeds look set to receive an initial £42m fee from Manchester City for Kalvin Phillips, and it looks as if Andrea Radrizzani and the 49ers Enterprises are willing to invest that straight back into the club in order to sign De Ketelaere.

Should a move go through, you’d expect that De Ketelaere won’t be a direct replacement for the England international, although the 21-year-old has experience of playing as a deep-lying central midfielder.

Signing him would bolster the Whites’ attacking ranks, and following De Ketelaere’s starring 2021/22 campaign, it could be Leeds’ best move of the summer.

Newcastle eye Chelsea striker Broja

The Daily Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards has revealed that Newcastle United have an ‘active interest’ in Armando Broja.

The Lowdown: Contact made

It has been reported that the St. James’ Park outfit have already made contact with Chelsea with regards to the possibility of signing Broja this summer, with a deal to sign Reims striker Hugo Ekitike far from wrapped up after failing to come to terms with the Frenchman’s representatives.

Of course, the Albania international offers that extra Premier League experience having been on loan at Southampton last season, where he managed to score nine goals in total.

The Latest: ‘Active interest’

Taking to Twitter, Edwards has revealed that the North East club have an ‘active interest’ in Broja, but are waiting to see what Chelsea want to do with their striker:

“Nufc have an active interest in Chelsea forward Armando Broja but are waiting to see what London club want to do with the player. As I said earlier in week, there is a sense of calm at SJP following early transfer breakthroughs and they’re assessing various offensive options.”

The Verdict: Patience needed

There is still over a month until the new season starts, and so patience is needed on Tyneside in order for them to get their striker recruitment right.

They have already brought in goalkeeper Nick Pope, central defender Sven Botman and left-back Matt Targett, so now it is just about adding the finishing touches in the final third of the pitch.

Dubbed a ‘dangerous‘ player by Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, and someone who has ‘incredible pace and strength‘ by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, Broja would certainly be a smart addition, but it will be up to Chelsea whether they would be willing to let him go to a top-flight rival.

Harry Winks wants Everton move

Everton’s interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks could materialise, as the player appears interested in making the switch.

What’s the word?

That’s according to Paul Brown, who had the following to say on the potential move when speaking to GIVEMESPORT:

“Winks is very keen to come and would have agreed to sign for Everton in a previous window.

“He seems to like the project there and would fit possibly quite well into Lampard’s system.

“But the two clubs are a way apart because for Everton, ideally in the same way they did with Dele Alli, spreading the cost into another financial year would be ideal for them, but Spurs want the money now.

“So, it’s whoever blinks first really on this one.”

Imagine him and Gibbs-White

Everton have lacked any real creativity in midfield, but in Winks and Gibbs-White, someone who the club have seen a bid rejected for, they could form a dependable central midfield package containing an eye for a pass.

The latter is certainly more offensive but in Winks, Lampard would certainly find an upgrade on the club’s current group of hardworking but unspectacular midfielders.

Perhaps partnered with the gritty Allan, these two could also end up birthing a perfect partnership in the centre of the park.

Winks only featured in 19 league games last season, and Antonio Conte has obviously deemed him surplus to requirements. This would explain the £15m price tag, which could be seen as a bargain in today’s market.

He did manage a respectable 6.84 average SofaScore rating in his time on the pitch, which is a decent return considering his lack of involvement.

The 26-year-old does sit in the 98th percentile for progressive passes per 90, as his 6.71 dwarfs that of Abdoulaye Doucoure, Allan and Andre Gomes’ returns.

This desire to progress the play, combined with the Brazilian midfielder’s 26.72 pressures per 90 again suggests that he could do the dirty work, mopping up for Winks to spread the play.

Mauricio Pochettino was a huge fan of him back when he managed Tottenham, as he featured often, and his manager spoke very highly of him. The Argentine once dubbed the midfielder “fantastic” when speaking about his progress.

Although this progress may have stunted, perhaps under one of England’s great midfielders in Lampard he could get his career back on track and form a great midfield partnership with Allan.

AND, in other news: Everton want to sign “dangerous” £57.8m ace this summer, supporters will be buzzing.
